World Vision Uganda (WVU) is a Christian relief, development and advocacy non-government organisation dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. We currently work in 43 districts and have 48 Area Programmes implementing projects in health & nutrition, water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH), livelihoods & resilience, education and child protection. World Vision (WV) is committed to the protection of children and adult beneficiaries from exploitation and abuse and will not employ people whose background is not suitable for working with these beneficiaries. Due to expansion in scope of our programmes, we are now seeking for a qualified and passionate individual willing to share in our vision and join the team in the following role.

Purpose of the position:
The objective of this position is to provide overall day-to-day management of Child Protection and Education project. The post holder is responsible for supervising the project Assistant/s; supporting their field-based activities; contributing to project planning, preparing draft reports, and attending key meetings

Key Outputs/Responsibilities
1. Project Implementation and Management
2. Provide overall leadership in managing and coordinating the implementation of activities according to the implementation work-plan and inter-agency standards.
3. Prepare Detailed Implementation Plans (DIP) based on approved and funded proposal.
4. Guide and provide technical support to staff on Child Protection, and education standards and other project interventions.
5. Timely develop project procurement plans and ensure project procurements are conducted timely.
6. Routinely conduct monitoring of implementation of project activities ensuring high level of standards in implementation of activities.
7. Monitor and manage projects’ budgets in line with grants agreements and standards.
8. Risk management by monitoring, addressing and reporting any risks to management of program funds and budgets.
9. Ensure assets of the organization in the operations are safe and secure in line with projects’ grant regulations, MoUs and agreements.
10. Support audit processes in line with the projects’ audit regulations.

Networking and collaboration
1. Ensure WV is adequately represented in Sector coordination meetings at settlement and zonal level.
2. Identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners and other stakeholders in planning and implementation of project activities.
3. Develop a database of strategic networks and partnerships for advocacy within the project area.
4. Facilitate the integration of advocacy for children inline with project intervention areas
5. Build strong relationship with OPM, local leaders, RWCs within the project area.
6. Staff performance management and supervision
7. Manage, supervise and build capacity of staff in project implementation and delivery, child protection and basic education.
8. Identify staff capacity, psychosocial and other needs, and work with P&C to ensure needs are met to promote staff welfare and wellbeing.
9. Provide guidance to Project staff in child protection, planning and preparation of M&E documents.
10. Participate in staff recruitment and orientation processes for Project Officers/ Assistants.
11. Set SMART performance targets and conduct quarterly conversations with the Project Assistants
12. Develop and implement coaching and mentorship plans with Project Assistants including building their capacity on technical child protection areas
13. Ensure 100% participation of staff in devotions and spiritual nature related events/activities
14. Spear head monthly project review meetings with Project staff.
15. Ensure team work among project team to ensure quality and timely implementation
16. Provide technical guidance and support supervision to project assistants.
17. staff develop leave plans and take leave days in the systems
18. Ensure staff comply with WVI online mandatory trainings like security, data management PSEA, etc.
19. Monitoring and Evaluation, accountability, documentation and reporting
20. Ensure the consultation and participation of community members and other stakeholders in all project interventions.
21. Support the MEAL Officer to ensure the functionality and usage of all project feedback mechanisms and participate in the collection of feedback from the community and other stakeholders
22. Facilitate effective monitoring, documentation and reporting in compliance with grants’ agreements, minimum standards and tools
23. Support the baseline and evaluation processes in liaison with MEAL team for projects targeting refugees and host communities
24. Establishment of functional project level M&E system and utilization of the information in liaison with MEAL team.
25. Manage project information and documentation processes, and ensure effective communication of the project results.
26. Document at change stories in article and Video formats to share milestones and lessons learnt within SO, donors and other stakeholders on the project interventions.
27. Prepare quality reports and submit (progress against delivery of outputs and achievement of outcomes, etc) to Support Offices, and UN partner agencies as per the grant agreements and regulations.

Project development
1. Support development of project designs, concepts and fundable proposals for CiE activities within the project area
2. Carry out assessments as required in the project area

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience.
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Development studies, Public Administration, Peace building, Sociology, Psychology, Education, International Relations, Social work and social Administration, Conflict studies
2. Post graduate in Project planning and management, Human Resource Management, Child Protection and Child Development is an added advantage
3. A minimum of three or more years’ field experience working with communities in peace building and or child protection programming and program management in an NGO context
4. Experience in integration/ mainstreaming child protection, peace building and conflict sensitivity across other Programmes and projects
5. Past experience in working with communities especially in refugee community and host.
6. Excellent analytical, documentation, problem solving, interpersonal ad negotiation, coordination and collaboration skills
7. Working knowledge of humanitarian and development industry including sphere standards, Local government policies/procedures, NGO code of conduct and humanitarian charter
8. Cross-cultural sensitivity and flexibility
9. Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychological stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources
10. Ability to cope up and deal with stress and work under stressful work conditions
11. Commitment to World Vision Core Values, mission and Vision Statements
12. Ability to speak English and common local languages spoken
13. Ability to ride motorcycle with valid riding permit is a MUST
