About This Job:
Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.
On behalf of our client, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Hardware service and maintenance engineer to work in Kampala Uganda.
Job Title: Hardware Service and Maintenance Engineer
Reports to: ICT Manager
Supervisees:
Outsourced Service Providers

• Head Procurement & Disposal Unit

Job roles and responsibilities:
The overall purpose of the job holder is to develop, design, service, test, repair, and maintain all the computer hardware components (infrastructure) of company’s and its clients’ computers and the respective supporting electrical systems. Additional experience preferably mechanical experience for printing and personalization systems for security documents is required. Specifically, the job holder will be expected to:
• Design and oversee the production, delivery, and installation of computer hardware equipment.
• Test and re-test parts to ensure they work properly.
• Identify and isolate hardware defects.
• Design and develop the software systems that control computers.
• Design and test circuits and other electronic components.
• Test work and refine system processes.
• Integrate components into the final design.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the design and change if necessary.
• Estimate cost, reliability, and safety factors.
• Use computers extensively to produce and analyze designs.
• Generate specifications for hardware parts.
• Monitor and control the effectiveness and efficiency of the system processes.
• Supervise outsourced hardware service providers.
• Build, test, and modify product prototypes.
• Analyse information and recommend appropriate hardware to users.
• Design support peripherals, including central processing units (CPUs), support logic, microprocessors, and custom integrated circuits, and printers and disk drives.
• Specify power supply requirements and configuration.
• Retrieve data for analysis of system capabilities.
• Develop hardware service and maintenance roster
• Execute corrective and preventive maintenance for the production equipment which consists of screen-printing equipment, offset printing equipment, collating machines, laminating machines, and punching machines among others.
• Manage an inventory of hardware parts including filling machine logbooks and service ticketing systems.
• Ensure SATs are carried out
• Ensure compliance with the hardware manufacturer’s protocols and procedures.
• Inform/ update the key stakeholders about the hardware functionality and status.
• Ensure that the company projects are delivered through robust hardware maintenance and servicing.
• Carry out any other relevant duties assigned by the supervisor

Key academic qualifications:
The job requires the following academic qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or ICT from a recognized University
• Certification from relevant professional bodies
• A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage
Other requirements
• Extensive familiarity with computer hardware architecture and functions.
• Ability to discover and pinpoint the hardware performance
• Certifications in any of the following or any other relevant areas:
• A+ (CompTIA)
• Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT)
• Cisco Certified Technician Routing & Switching (CCT)
• BICSI Technician

Working experience and other relevant skills
The job requires someone with at least 5 years of practical working experience in hardware maintenance and operations management in an IT-based organization.
• Hands-on programming experience using relevant languages. Preferably .Net, Java, PL/SQL scripting
• Experience in using relevant tool suites.
• Experience in working with clients and business partners.
• A comprehensive understanding of computer science concepts.
• Excellent coding skills.
• Extensive knowledge of agile methodologies e.g., Scrum
• Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to work independently on complex software tasks and under pressure
• Ability to design and develop hardware components including circuit boards, processors, and memory cards.
• Ability to test hardware components individually and in tandem with external computer systems.
• Ability to analyze systems data in order to make changes to the hardware configuration.
• Ability to complete functionality and performance tests on the final product.
• Ability to design hardware for computer-related products such as routers and smart devices.
• Ability creating specifications and documents for components and complete computer systems.
• Ability to collaborate with software developers to ensure the hardware functions for its intended purpose.
• Ability to oversee the manufacturing process of hardware components.
