Roles & Responsibilities
1. Project preparation;
• Ensure initial and subsequent submissions to the ethics and regulatory bodies are complete and all regulatory reports are submitted in a timely fashion;
• Ensure District and local research permissions including at LC1 and LC3 levels are obtained;
• Ensure a complete work plan is developed, implemented and monitored with revisions as needed with input from key stakeholders;
• Contribute to developing study referral procedures and identifying referral partners.
• Contribute to developing and delivering study training activities;
• Contribute to SOPs for data collection; and,
• Ensure that the study adheres to all COVID-19 SOPs that are in place at time of data collection.
2. Project coordination;
• Ensure the activities and outputs achieved are in line with the protocol, project plan and budget;
• Ensure integrity of study data, procedures and strong data management including the timely uploading of interview audios; and,
• Ensure that data high quality data transcription is conducted in a secure and timely manner.
3. Conduct contracting and vendor management;
• Contribute to leading regular study team meetings and calls.
• Prepare and present study updates/progress reports to the Study Principal Investigator.
• Ensure complete documentation of study meetings and activities including internal and external communications; and,
• Contribute to dissemination of study findings including through peer reviewed manuscripts.
4. Other roles/duties;
• Study specific roles as per Delegation of Duty/ Authority document; and,
• Other duties as may be assigned by the PI as deemed necessary.
5. Line management;
• Supervise the social science team leader and field interviewer(s) and ensure that there is a well-defined and documented delegation of duties with ongoing performance management;
• Ensure adequate initial and ongoing training of all study staff with substantive contributions to training activities and materials; and,
• Identify any training needs and advise accordingly.
6. LSHTM integration;
• Support the dissemination of study findings to all LSHTM sites (London, The Gambia and Uganda; and,
• Support harmonization of policies and procedures between Unit and LSHTM London.
7. Environment;
• Relieve Participate in carbon emission reduction activities across the Unit and wider LSHTM; and,
• Act as an advocate for the responsible and efficient use of resources. Person Specification
• A bachelor’s degree in social science subject;
• Masters level qualification in a related field or equivalent experience;
• Should possess proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a research team;
• Experience of supervising, mentoring or supporting less experienced staff;
• Experience of managing multi-site studies;
• Experience of data analysis;
• Evidence of co-authorship of at least 2 academic publications;
• Experience of managing budgets including handling of cash and other study resources;
• Experience of cognitive interviewing;
• Experience of delivering training;
• Should possess knowledge of issues related to violence against women and girls and the importance of effective referral services;
• Knowledge of different qualitative data collection methods;
• Knowledge of ethics in research;
• Self-driven; • Excellent attention to detail;
• Excellent social and communication skills;
• Excellent organizational skills; and,
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
