JOB DETAILS:
Lugazi Diocese with support from Makerere University Walter Reed project through a system strengthening approach to improve HIV and TB Prevention, care and treatment services is implementing a comprehensive HIV/ AIDS prevention Care and Treatment program in collaboration with Local Government structures, Faith Based Organizations, Community Based Organizations (CBO), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development and other partners in the districts of Buvuma, Mukono, Buikwe, Luwero, Nakasongola. LUGAZI DIOCESE seeks to engage qualified persons, to support implementation of the Core DREAMS package among vulnerable and at-risk Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW), in Luwero District and implementation for KP program in Nakasongola and Luwero districts.
DREAMS PROGRAM
Contract Tenure: 1 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funding.
Position Summary:
To provide technical leadership and support in the implementation of Social Economics Strengthening (SES) interventions that result in reduction of vulnerability and sustainable improvement in the economic status and overall health of communities across the district/s of operation. To support sustainable economic growth of the AGYWS and support to access to markets
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• The SES officer will provide technical leadership to ensure provision of high-quality SES services by the project and Empower Artisans with current trends and knowledge about competing products on the market.
• Provide technical support to the CBOS, vocational trainers and artisans to provide high quality products that can compete with the current market.
• Monitor SES services and meet all set targets through supportive supervision, building their capacity during on-job mentorship, training workshops and other platforms.
• Identify and introduce high impact innovations to improve efficiency, coverage, and achievement of set targets.
• Benchmark performance in the assigned thematic area with other implementing mechanisms, to ensure quick translation of lessons learnt and best practices into implementation.
• Participate in the development, adoption and dissemination of new program policies, guidelines, strategies and Innovations to ensure implementation is in alignment with the latest standards.
• Ensure that the latest SES guidelines and policies are available to and utilized by the project, district and community funding.
• Support AGYWS access to markets from within their communities and beyond
• Work with the VSLA trainers to ensure that AGYWS are able to make savings
Required Education, Knowledge and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in social sciences or related field
• Leadership certificate as an added advantage
Other desired attributes
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Ability to meet very tight deadlines.
• Physical Ability: The ability to travel within the work site and field stations Supervisory Controls:
• The individual will serve under the immediate supervision of Technical Advisor Youth and Gender (DREAMS)
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
