Responsibilities
• Daily. Oversight of the three functional areas at the Gulu site: Production, Sales, and Finance.
• Lead the other senior leaders to success in their responsibilities.
• Ensure the Nguvu Dairy is achieving its overall company goals.
• Production: Ensure the production team produces satisfactory quality and quantity of dairy products.
• Sales: Ensure the sales teams are meeting their sales goals. Develop business to business sales in accordance with the company plan.
• Finance: Ensure the Bookkeeper is maintaining accurate financial records and paying the company's financial obligations, such as monthly payroll and taxes.
• Financial Responsibilities.
• Develop accurate budgets and ensure compliance. Work with local staff to ensure execution of Gulu District business in accord with cash-flow projections.
• As needed, update budgets and cash-flow projections.
• Ensure timely and accurate payroll operations. Work with the Nguvu Bookkeeper to ensure proper management of cash and accurate and professional management bookkeeping system.
• Evaluate financial reports and make adjustments for the financial health of the company.
• Strategic Planning.
• Work with the Nguvu senior leaders to determine strategies for business success.
• This includes developing new products or revenue streams, growing profitable sales, and making changes to existing operations.
• Provide oversight for recruiting, hiring, training, and ongoing management of senior staff at the office, production center, and the distribution sales sites.
• Human Resources.
• Determine staffing needs and job descriptions and oversee the hiring of all Nguvu personnel.
• Determine pay scale for employees based on the local job market.
• Establish and maintain a system for employee benefits programs.
• Policy and Training.
• Review and improve all policies and practices to maintain compliance with Ugandan law, Nguvu values, and especially with respect to maintaining a trauma-informed workplace.
• In consultation with stakeholders, the Gulu District Manager will research, propose, and make any changes to improve Nguvu policies. Ensure all personnel have proper training.
• Participate in training for maintaining a trauma-informed workplace.
• Receive and deliver management training. In partnership with functional area managers, develop orientation material for all new staff, including training about work ethics, fostering a positive work environment, and expectations of behavior for Nguvu staff. Legal and Governmental.
• Obtain and maintain any permits required for any facet of the business as required by Ugandan law. Ensure compliance with all Ugandan laws.
• Timely filing of all required filings, returns, and legal documents.

• Qualifications
• English proficiency—both written and spoken.
• Education in and proven understanding of business operations
• Formal management training.

• Ability to set goals, monitor progress, and achieve results.
• Skill in email communication and computer operations.
• Ability to hold others accountable to measurable outcomes.

• Strong ability to evaluate financial statements and to make company goals that will achieve financial results.
• Competent in Equipment problem solving. Experience
• At least three years as a manager or a department head.
• Significant experience managing other leaders.
• Experience managing a budget and leading a company or department to achieve financial goals.
• Experience training a team and getting positive results from the training.
• Preference will be given to experience in the Dairy Industry in Uganda.

Compensation and Benefits package
• Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and will be subject to all such deductions as required by the laws of Uganda. Salary range: 1,500,000 - 2,000,000 UGX Working hours are fixed at 44 hours per week, Monday to Friday, and a half day Saturday. Exceptionally, work outside these hours will be expected provided that the maximum working hours shall not exceed 56 hours per week or ten hours per day. Nguvu offers the following benefits package in addition to salary for this position:

• Annual leave of 21 days per year
• Medical coverage for the staff member, legal spouse, and biological children.
