JOB DETAILS:
This is a key position on the program team and is contingent upon award to MCD Global Health. Location: Kampala, Uganda.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Support the Chief of Party in developing and implementing the strategic vision for the WASH component of the Activity;
• Provide technical leadership, management, oversight and contributions to the strategic direction of the Activity, ensuring implementation of the integrated technical vision and overall technical approach for improved WASH performance in the target areas;
• Manage, mentor, and oversee technical staff under his/her supervision at national and decentralized levels;
• Maintain relationships with USAID, government actors at all levels, service providers, and other key WASH stakeholders to ensure effective collaboration, coordination, and engagement;
• Manage work planning and ensure compliance in technical implementation across the Activity and with assigned objective areas;
• Participate in public events, conferences, and workshops, as needed
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree (Master’s degree preferred) in water supply and sanitation, water resources management, public health, international development, social sciences or related field. Civil engineering degree is a plus;
• Minimum five years of senior management experience with donor funded WASH programs with demonstrated expertise in areas such as behavior change programming, WASH infrastructure, WASH market development, sector governance, service delivery strengthening, or related fields to the scope of this Activity is required, and experience in Uganda highly desirable;
• Demonstrated understanding of the WASH context in Uganda;
• Demonstrated supervisory experience, including management of large, diverse teams operating in multiple locations;
• Demonstrated experience of progressively responsible managerial experience implementing and managing complex donor-funded projects with grants under contract; experience implementing gender, equality, and social inclusion initiatives a plus;
• Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity;
• Fluency in English required;
