JOB DETAILS:
The Austrian Red Cross (AutRC) is looking for an experienced and highly motivated WASH delegate for Uganda, starting 01.07.2023. The delegate will support the implementation of projects in cooperation with the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) in Nakivale Settlement, South West Uganda. The humanitarian aid project addresses needs in waters supply, sanitation and hygiene and livelihood. The working station will be in Nakivale Settlement and the town of residence Mbarara. The assignment is limited to one year with a possibility of extension.
WASH DELEGATE UGANDA
Your tasks and responsibilities
• Technical support to tender processes and supervision of construction work
• Coordinating soft WASH project components (Hygiene promotion, MHM)
• Coordinating general project implementation plan with the various URCS teams
• Providing guidance on donor regulations on-site to ensure correct implementation by field team
• Ensures proper narrative and financial reporting in country
• Closely coordinates with URCS implementing team and management
• Supports on request URCS WASH team
• Closely coordinates with AutRC in-country team
• Be part, collaborate and support the AutRC WASH Team in all regions and HQ Vienna
• Ensures mainstreaming of crosscutting issues Inclusion, Gender and Diversity (PGI), Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) and Environmental Sustainability across all activities
Your profile
Austrian (or EU) work permit is required
• Academic degree in civil engineering or equivalent education in a WASH related field with focus on water treatment construction work
• At least 3 years experience in WASH development - emergency sector, additional experience in e.g. hygiene promotion, menstrual hygiene management is a strong asset
• Experience with livelihood activities (agriculture) is an asset
• Proven success in project management (including financial and narrative reporting)
• Knowledge and expertise in Inclusion, Gender and Diversity; Community Engagement and Accountability and/or Environmental Sustainability is a strong asset
• Excellent written and spoken English skills, German and local East African languages are an asset
• Experience in the Red Cross- and Red Crescent Movement and experience in Africa are a strong asset
• Ability to work independently and in a multi-cultural team
• Strong planning and coordination skills
• Strong motivation by humanitarian and development work, and high sensitivity to diversity
