A global leader in the field of sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice for youth, by youth.
IYAFP was born out of an identified need at the International Conference on Family Planning in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2013 by a group of youth from around the world. Since then, IYAFP has grown to become a global organization that exists for youth, entirely led by youth. We leverage youth energy, creativity and expertise to improve advocacy, and set a fully youth-led agenda.
Our values-driven community and geographic diversity positions us as a coordinating mechanism for global movement building in SRHRJ. The basis of our work lies in the fundamental human right of all youth to access their Sexual and Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice.
As youth’s realities do not place individual issues in siloes, IYAFP commits to working on comprehensive SRHRJ issues which encompasses everything from access to modern contraception to access to safe abortion and LGBTIQ+ rights. Addressing these issues together ensures that adolescent girls, young women, and all young people are enabled to make informed decisions about their bodies and lives—free of stigma, discrimination and coercion—to have access to their essential human rights, and to live healthy, pleasurable lives.
In 2021, with over half of the global population being under the age of 30 and either living in or entering reproductive age, young people officially represent both the present and future of sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice for all.

Our ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

Our global movement functions by a governing board of directors that includes leaders from the business world, civil society and most importantly, the SRHR community itself.
Our Executive Team is an entirely youth-led team based across multiple regions around the world working remotely and managing and operating the global team at large.
The Country Coordinator is the representative of their country’s youth on matters of SRHR within IYAFP’s global network. The Country Coordinator is a connector who also serves as the country chapter lead and engages a Country Coordinating Team (CCT). A Country Coordinator oversees the development and growth of their country chapter and serves as the direct point of contact with the Executive Team.
At the country chapter level, the Country Coordinating Team is responsible to manage, engage and grow the membership of the IYAFP network in the country and to ensure that as a collective the country chapter commits to working together to improve the state of SRHR in their respective communities.
