JOB DETAILS:

About Evidence Action
Our organization was founded in 2013 to address a big gap in the fight against global poverty–many of the most promising interventions are either implemented at a very small scale, or not at all. We set out to address this gap by building programs that would scale evidence-based and cost-effective interventions, leading to significant improvements in quality of life for hundreds of millions of people.
Our model worked. In less than a decade, our two flagship programs, the Deworm the World Initiative and Dispensers for Safe Water, have grown to measurably impact over 280 million people each year. This success is achieved through the dedication and talent of our staff, the hard work of our partners, and the commitment of our supporters.
By 2024, we seek to double our impact. We are strengthening and expanding our existing programs, and working to identify a new generation of evidence-based and cost-effective interventions that we can scale to reach millions more.

Job purpose
Community Service Assistant (CSA) position is primarily a field-based position which plays an important role as an interface between Dispensers for Safe Water and communities served with dispensers. This position ensures sufficient and uninterrupted supply of chlorine and service & maintenance of the installed chlorine dispensers. This, in turn, enables the community to successfully access and use the dispensers throughout for improved community health.

This person should be able and has experience in riding a motorcycle

Duties and responsibilities
1. Conducting dispenser hardware service and maintenance through regular spot checks to ensure proper functioning
2. Installing chlorine dispensers whenever necessary, in line with the organization’s protocols/specifications and guidelines.
3. Delivering chlorine to various chlorine dispensers located at water points by use of motorcycles.
4. Ensure safe handling and accountability of chlorine and dispenser stocks in the store/office and to the designated sites.
5. Proper Record Keeping by completing relevant forms/documents/records that are important in inventory
6. Engaging the target community to promote dispenser usage and handle any/all possible challenges and report the same to supervisor.
7. Collecting all field data for program assessment and accountability, by use of smartphones
8. Maintaining good integrity and stewardship of the Organizational assets assigned to you for work execution

Key Performance Indicators
1. All assigned dispensers must remain functional in usable condition all the time.
2. Maintain an uninterrupted supply of chlorine to all assigned dispensers throughout the year.
3. Maintain good rapport with the target community, ensuring it is well engaged and embrace the chlorine dispensers and keep using these for improved health.
4. Program data is collected within the provided guidelines and shared with the supervisor for the next action
5. The dispenser empty rates and all noted/reported dispenser issues are addressed within the stated timelines.

Working conditions
Community Service Assistant (CSA) position is primarily field based position involving working in the field 90% of the time, maneuvering the rural setting terrain with chlorine loads on motorcycles, to distribute these to designated representatives at each chlorine dispenser.

Physical requirements
This job involves carrying chlorine loads on motorcycles in rural areas, and thus requires good riding skills and experience as well as ability to lift the chlorine jerry cans to and off the motorcycle on a regular basis.
