JOB DETAILS:
Purpose of the position:
The project Communications, Advocacy & External Engagement officer will; Raise awareness of FMNR among key World Vision Uganda staff. They will organise awards and recognition events for World Vision Uganda field staff who excel in the implementation of the project. They will coordinate community sensitisation sessions about FMNR.
They will collaborate with advocacy teams to influence community by-laws for FMNR. The officer will organise exposure and learning visits for farmers to national events and model groups. They will organise project engagements and events like; learning and reflection meetings, exposure visits to FMNR for external partners, manage media engagements, host best practice awards for private, and civil society partners.
They will facilitate participation by the FMNR Network and its membership at key events, forums, and symposiums.

Key Outputs/Responsibilities.
Planning & Strategy Implementation:
• Develop and implement Communications, Advocacy and External Engagement plans that effectively promote the FMNR project goals and objectives
• There’s a documentation, advocacy and External Engagement plan in place.
• All Communications and Advocacy efforts are aligned to the FMNT goals and objectives.

WVI/Story hub Content:
• Work with the WV Australia Support office to produce high-quality, engaging content to be shared with the various audiences of interest.
• High quality communications & advocacy content/resources produced to meet varied audience needs and shared with WVAUS through the Story Hub.

Project Visibility:
• Support the FMNR project by documenting best practices, impact stories and other events. Manage the programme’s visibility and branding through External/Advocacy Engagements.
• The Project Officer (DAEE) will ensure WV Uganda digital and online platforms are regularly updated with engaging content about FMNR.
• Mainstream Media/Press Management:
• The FMNR Project Officer- DAEE will Manage media relations by creating and distributing press releases, pitching stories, and responding to media inquiries.

Materials Production:
• Work with field teams and partners to develop, pre-test and roll out IECs and other visibility materials
• A well-documented project with coverage that meets stakeholder and donor expectations.
• Project materials/handouts are timely packaged and disseminated to the relevant stakeholders.
• Wvi.org/Uganda and WVU’s social media platforms (Especially LinkedIn and Twitter) are regularly updated with FMNR content.
• There’s “unpaid” coverage of the project in mainstream press. (TV, Print including online channels)

Stakeholder Relationship Management
• The FMNR Project Officer- DAEE will build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media outlets, community leaders, and donors.
• There is a stakeholder engagement plan for the project in place. Key stakeholders are constantly update on the project milestones.
• Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Advocacy and External Engagement efforts. Generate regular reports for the project leadership and donors.
• Advocacy and External Engagement reports are packaged and timely disseminated to the project leadership.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience.
• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, or a related field. 2-3 years of experience in a communications or public relations role, preferably in the non-profit sector.
• Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to produce high-quality content for various communication channels.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of media relations, including experience pitching stories and building relationships with journalists.
• Experience in managing multiple stakeholder relationships
• A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication, Mass Communication, humanities, or any other related field of study
• Experience with still photography, videography, and story writing skills Multimedia editing skills in Adobe Suit (Premier Pro, InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator)
• Understanding of transformational development and ability to translate technical language into language that is easily understandable by donors and the public (Knowledge management)
• Experience in hosting or working with donors and high-profile visitors Social media and digital engagement skills
