About the Project
Marasa Africa seeks to make capital infrastructural improvements to their lodges within Uganda. The improvements will entail building extensions, structural modification, refurbishment, fit-out, external civil and landscaping works as well as Electro-mechanical upgrades within the various Safari lodges within Uganda.
Job Summary:
The clerk of works will work under the technical supervision of the Consultant Architect and project Manager to support the execution of improvement works (renovation, alteration, refurbishment,
extension) at selected safari lodge sites within the above-mentioned duty stations. The Incumbent will be responsible for:
• Daily/periodical monitoring of workmanship, materials, and work methods standards, drawings, specification and health & safety regulations in liaison with the Consultant and KSL projects team.
• Support the Consultant and KSL projects team in the issuance of approvals/certification at critical identified intervals (including setting out, floor levels, steel fixing, concrete casting, drainage slopes.
• Daily/periodical supervision to ensure construction works run smoothly.
• Support the Contractors in interpretation of Designs, Drawings and Technical Specifications ensuring that any discrepancies/modifications in the scope of work are dealt with in good time.
• Maintain a diary to record the progress of construction, delays, weather conditions, site visitors, and other significant facts, and submit bi-weekly reports to the Project team.
• Compile a close-out report which should include photographic documentation of physical structures for the renovation works at each health facility before, during and after the process.
Qualifications, Skills& Experience
• The Clerk of Works should hold a minimum of a Diploma in Architecture or Civil Engineering. A higher diploma in the same field is an added advantage.
• Should have at least 10 years' experience in building construction work, and not less than 4 years' experience as a clerk of works. Specific experience in hospitality, high end residential or healthcare projects will be an added advantage.
• Previous experience working with bank financed projects is an added advantage.
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
