Programme and Operations Officer
Employer: Zippy Keystones International
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Reports To: Executive Director
Job Purpose:
The Programmes and Operations Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Director in overseeing programme implementation, organizational operations, fundraising, and strategic partnerships. The role involves managing programme activities, strengthening organizational systems, leading resource mobilization efforts, and fostering partnerships that support the organization’s mission and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Resource Mobilization and Fundraising:
- Identify funding opportunities from foundations, bilateral or multilateral donors, corporates, and other stakeholders, expecting their financial contribution.
- Prepare funding proposals, grant applications, and donor reports.
- Develop and execute the organization’s fundraising strategy.
- Maintain a calendar of donor deadlines and reporting requirements.
Partnership Development:
- Map potential partners including NGOs, private sector actors, government bodies, and funders.
- Initiate and nurture partnerships that align with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Represent the organization in meetings, networks, and partnership-building forums.
- Develop and manage MOUs and partnership agreements.
Executive and Strategic Support:
- Work closely with and provide strategic support to the Executive Director.
- Prepare reports, concept notes, Power Point Presentations, and briefing documents.
- Prepare high-level planning, execution, and monitoring of organizational priorities.
- Coordinate internal communication between departments and with the Executive Director.
Programme Management:
- Develop planning, implementation, and monitoring of programmes.
- Develop project proposals, logframes, and budgets.
- Coordinate with field teams and stakeholders to ensure timely and effective delivery of activities.
- Compile and analyze programme data and draft narrative and financial reports.
- Undertake field missions.
Operations and Administration Support:
- Support procurement, logistics, and administrative operations.
- Support in maintaining effective systems for documentation, compliance, HR, and budgeting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in development studies, International Relations, Public or Business Administration, or a related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in programme coordination, operations, Partnership, Resources mobilisation and fundraising preferably within the nonprofit environment.
- Proven experience in writing successful grant proposals and managing donor relationships.
- Experience supporting executive leadership is a strong asset.
Key Skills, Competencies and other requirements:
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Knowledge of fundraising trends and donor landscapes.
- Strategic thinking and ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant project management tools.
- Fluency in English and at least one of the most spoken local languages
- Christian values and ability to work with Christian faith-based organisations and related environments, including participation in their activities: Sunday services, prayers, and other related activities.
- Be a Ugandan citizen
Desirable:
- Familiarity with donor rules.
- Existing network of development or philanthropic contacts.
- Willingness to travel and adapt to dynamic work environments.
