Delight Children's Health Rights Initiative (DCHRI) is a maternal and children's health rights non-governmental, nonprofit organization dedicated to making life-saving medical interventions accessible to the most underserved communities in Uganda.

Job Summary:
The Nursing Officer will receive and assess the health status of our beneficiaries and their families through provision of better health services at the organization’s Reception Facility.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Administer outpatient treatment and immunization services
  
• Conduct field visits to hospitals, homes and communities for sensitization, counseling, follow-up and assessments.
  
• Work with outreach officers to ensure that the supply of drugs, sundries and medical equipment required for running the clinic is continuous and on time.
  
• Ensure maintenance of records such as drug stock cards, daily consumption cards, treatment records, referral records, equipment register, counseling records and other records.
  
• Ensure timely transportation of patients to hospitals and diagnostic centers.
  
• Ensure timely issuance of prescribed drugs to patients.
  
• Manage maintenance of hygiene at the health center.
  
• Provide medical counseling on health issues to children and their families.
  
• Carry out hospital visits and follow up on both out patients and admitted cases and give update reports.
  
• Ensure compliance to policies and procedures during designing, execution, monitoring and evaluation of the program activities.
  

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for will:

• Hold a Diploma in Nursing or its equivalent from a recognized Institution
  
• Be registered with the Nurses and Midwives Council
  
• Possess 1 to 3 years’ relevant work experience
  
• Previous experience of working in a role with an NGO is desirable
  
• Experience with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is desirable
  
• Experience in handling infants is desirable
