Job Summary:
The Plant Operator II (Forklift Operator) is responsible for operating forklifts and moving goods around warehouses and production facilities. This includes using forklifts to unload deliveries, stacking boxes for storage, and moving wooden pallets.

Salary Scale: KT7(1)
Reports to: Plant Operator III
Direct Reports: Plant Operator I

Key Functions:
• Unloading deliveries and safely relocating the goods to their designated storage areas while ensuring that forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions.
• Maneuvering forklifts and safely stacking and unstacking large quantities of goods onto shelves or pallets.
• Carryout basic maintenance and cleaning of the Forklifts and Cranes.
• Report all Technical and Mechanical defects of the Forklifts and Cranes to the supervising officer.
• Maintain a clean, uncluttered, and safe work environment observing and practicing high standards of health, safety, and environment.
• Lead, mentor, develop, coach, train and appraise subordinates and peers to help them be successful in their roles and to progress in their skills and abilities.
• Develop and implement Monthly Work Plans necessary for executing the above duties and responsibilities and Performance Reports detailing all operations involving use of Forklifts and Cranes in the production environment.
• Any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Minimum Academic Qualifications
• Valid Driving License (Minimum Class/Group: G class to Operate Forklifts)
• Certification to Operate Forklifts.

Minimum Experience
Three (3) years’ experience with heavy machinery including forklifts and/or cranes and a strong record of safety in a physically demanding role.

Core Competencies
• Ability to understand codes and fill out forms correctly.
• Knowledge of warehouse health and safety requirements
• Knowledge of industrial storage procedures, such as the correct way to stack pallets on top of one another.
• Ability to itemise and record stock for inventories.
• Interpretation of Technical and Engineering Documentation
