Job details:
The Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) is Uganda’s leading economics research institution. Its mandate is to provide research and other forms of analytical, support to Uganda’s development process. EPRO uses resources from Government of Uganda and Think Tank Initiative (TTI) under the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). The Centre is searching for qualified persons with sound professional integrity to fill the positions indicated below.
Job title: Research Fellow- Macroeconomics (2 posts)
Reports to: Senior Research Fellow
Age limit: 30- 45 years

Main Duties

• Undertake empirical analysis of macroeconomic issues
•  Engage in commissioned work for and on behalf of the Centre
• Based on research findings and sound analysis, contribute to national policy discourse
• Mentor and coach Research Analysts

Requirements for the job:

• Minimum of Master’s degree by coursework & research with a strong bias in macroeconomics in Economics,
• Agricultural Economics or Statistics from a reputable University
•  Recent graduates of doctoral degrees in (a) shall be added advantage
• Comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to apply modern macro-economic theory and methods
• Strong analytical skills in macroeconomic modeling
•  Abreast with current global and national macroeconomic issues
• A minimum of six years working experience in relevant reputable public or private sector institutions three of which should be in policy-oriented work
•  Experience of successful management and leadership of a research team working on research projects
•  Professional experience of working in reputable research or academic institutions
•  Proven high level writing skills as primary author in published research papers, review etc.
•  Excellent presentation skills High-level interpersonal and good communication skills
• Self-motivation and capability to work under tight deadlines in a competitive environment
• Evidence of publication of own written articles in either local or international journals
• Demonstrated ability to use STATA, EViews, GAMS or GAUSS for data analysis.
• Unquestionable integrity

The Research Fellow position offers a contract for three (3) years, with a possibility for renewal subject to performance. Attractive and internationally competitive remuneration package including healthcare coverage is offered.
