JOB DETAILS:
Alliance Forum for Development-AFOD Uganda is a non-profit, non-governmental organization working with humanitarian and development partners to address the needs of conflict-affected populations, rural and urban poor communities in Uganda to address their real needs in areas of health, nutrition, food security and livelihoods, environmental health, protection, and psychosocial support and research.

AFOD Uganda is looking for dynamic, experienced, and qualified Ugandans to fill the position of storekeeper (commodity management).

Terms of Reference (TOR)
Reports to: Logistics Assistant
Location: Moyo/Obongi & Adjumani Field Offices

Job Summary / Purpose: Assist in the management and accounting of food commodities and Non-Food Items stored at FDPs in the area of operation. Ensure that all commodities are handled using the best practices and standard operating procedures (SOP) for food commodity management

Major Duties and responsibilities
• Ensure that the equipment and supplies required for the smooth and safe operation of the FDP (weighing scales, sampling spears, moisture meters, stitching machines, fire extinguishers, spare bags, threads, stationery, etc.) are in place.
• Ensure that the FDP store is opened, locked, and sealed by the delegated security guards at all times.
• Ensure that porters are available in optimum numbers for loading, off-loading, reconstitution, re-bagging, and re-stacking operations.
• Prepare and verify warehouse and transport documents, and maintain confidential files and accurate warehouse transaction records, to ensure immediate reporting on commodity movements in line with the corporate requirements.
• Perform daily inspections and prepare reports on the quantity and quality of the commodities received and stored at the FDP, and refer to the supervisor for appropriate action.
• Carry out joint inspection of quality and quantity of food commodities, at time of receipt or as necessary, and report findings to the Logistics Assistant or his designate.
• Regularly monitor the condition of the FDP store and commodities and take appropriate actions to support efficient warehouse space utilization and well-organized commodity storage following WFP warehouse standards.
• Supervise re-bagging, reconstitution, and segregation of damaged food and stack the same separately.
• Keenly check and verify the accuracy of tally sheets and other documents daily.
• Ensure that all receipts, returns, and dispatches are accurately recorded and all transactions are reflected in the appropriate stack cards. Carry out stock reconciliation and ensure stock is up to date (stack Cards and in the System).
• Support daily warehouse closing reconciliation and accurate inventory checks and report immediately any discrepancies.
• Identify infested commodities and arrange for fumigation and spraying.
• Initiate certification of unfit food commodities and ensure removal of the same from the store upon receipt of disposal/condemnation instructions.
• Support receipt/dispatch commodities including transshipment (truck to truck) against official approved documentation (e.g. waybills and/or delivery notes) ensuring accuracy in the physical count of commodities including the quality in compliance with the established standards.
• Perform any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor.

Minimum Qualification
• A University Degree obtained from a recognized education institution in any of the following areas: Agribusiness, Development Studies, Economics, Business Management, Finance Management, Marketing, Supply Chain or other related area;
• At least three (3) years of progressively responsible support experience in retail, Sales, Distribution, and manufacturing.
• Experience in rural development projects and/or operational aspects of commercial transactions.
• Experience in Cash Based Transfer programs and/or digital payment solutions such as mobile money, and agency banking.

Core Competences
• In addition to the above qualifications and experience, the applicant should possess the following core competencies
• Holder of a Diploma in store management and logistics gained from a recognized institution
• A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible support experience in the field of transport, administration, accounting, and statistics gained from a reputable organization;
• Previous experience monitoring various aspects of logistics operations.
• Prior exposure and experience in supporting warehouse management.
• Previous experience in supporting inventory management.
• Previous experience in data entry and extracting routine reports.
