JOB DETAILS:
Overall purpose of the job: The overall purpose of the job is to efficiently plan and schedule the utilization of pans, crystallizers, and centrifugal machines in order to minimize material congestion and ensure the production of quality sugar with minimal losses in the final molasses.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Report promptly for duty at the beginning of the shift and discuss the work status with the outgoing pan supervisor.
2. Develop work programs to optimize sugar production and prevent material congestion.
3. Ensure that syrup and molasses liquors are boiled according to the agreed boiling scheme, and that the final massecuites are properly exhausted and meet quality standards before being discharged.
4. Monitor pan logbooks, physical stock levels, and running parameters such as vacuum, vapor pressure, and temperature.
5. Verify that the boiled sugar meets required standards in terms of color, crystal size, population, and consistency. Make suggestions for operational improvements during the shift.
6. Take responsibility for cleaning, testing, and maintenance of equipment in the section.
7. Maintain discipline among workers in the shift and enforce disciplinary actions as per management and union agreements. Ensure proper shift handover by workers.
8. Provide support during ISO audits, compliance reviews, and promote housekeeping practices during shift operations.

Knowledge, qualifications & Experience: Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science and Technology, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering. Knowledge and experience in Sugar Processing is an added advantage.

Experience, Skills, and Competences:
• Significant experience in pan boiling schemes (A, B, C) and the ability to supervise and effectively manage shop-floor staff.
• Strong knowledge of sugar processing operations and quality control.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills to optimize production schedules.
• Ability to analyze data and make recommendations for process improvements.
• Strong leadership skills to maintain discipline and enforce standards.
• Knowledge of ISO standards and compliance requirements.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality sugar products.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• Willingness to continuously learn and stay updated with industry advancements.
