About the Role:
Wells of Life, together with different District Local Governments, are implementing a Healthy Village Program in districts of Mityana, Mubende, Kassanda, Kabale, Rubanda and Kisoro.
Wells of Life is looking for WASH Officers who are to spearhead implementation of its Healthy Village Program in the mentioned Districts.

Major Roles and Responsibilities:

Contribute to the implementation of Wells of Life programs by providing input for planning, execution, coordination, and monitoring and evaluation of activities in order to ensure that the planned results (outputs – outcomes) are achieved within the set standards and requirements.

Main Tasks:
• Accurately assess WASH needs by collecting accurate, complete and up-to-date data required for effective WASH implementation, management, and MEAL in communities and schools.
• Sensitize targeted communities and schools on their contribution and responsibility towards water, sanitation and hygiene promotion.
• Facilitate the formation and appropriate training of Water and Sanitation Committees, Hygiene Promoters, WASH club leaders, and Village Health Teams in communities and schools.
• Monitor WASH promotion activities and behavior change in the program area.
• Compile WASH progress reports as stipulated in the Program Monitoring Plan, and submit to the WASH Program Manager in a timely manner
• Identify and train WASH beneficiaries for successful implementation of WASH interventions.
• Ensure participatory implementation of WASH activities to safeguard participation of local community members and gender equity in implementation and use of WASH facilities and services.
• Liaise with Village Health Teams, Hygiene Promoters and Water and Sanitation Committees to ensure that targeted WASH communities and schools meet the set WASH criteria to identify model households and pupils.
• Ensure judicious management and use of WASH program finances, supplies and assets.
• Guide the WASH Program Manager during planning and budgeting to effectively incorporate CLTS and FUM in WASH activities.
• Ensure quality implementation of WASH activities in consonance with WASH Budget and Workplan.
• Promote Wells of Life values in communities including showing of the Jesus Film, carrying out gender and child protection sensitizations e.t.c.

Required Qualification:
A university degree or its equivalent in Public Health; Environmental Sanitation; Development Studies; Water Engineering; Sanitary Engineering; and or other related disciplines, with additional training in Health Education; Community Development; and Communication.

Knowledge and Experience:
• A minimum of 2 years’ professional experience in a similar field, exposure to WASH activities at an organization level;
• Proven experience and skills in community facilitation and mobilization at community level;
• Technical knowledge of appropriate WASH approaches such as Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), Follow Up Mandona (FUM), PHAST, Communication for behavior change, Community-Based WASH program management is necessary;
• Excellent command of local language of Mityana and Kabale Districts is a MUST
• Knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and use of Internet tools;
• Tech-savvy with knowledge in the use of monitoring software’s, e.g. ODK, Sparrow, Kobo Collect, Akvo Flow etc. ;
• Motorcycle riding skills is an added advantage
• Possession of cross-cultural warmth and ability to work with people of varied cultures is necessary.
• Ability to work in a highly paced environment with complex deadlines
• MUST be a team player, independent, innovative, creative and collaborative
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
