EJA 08 /2018: JOB TITLE: CIVIL ENGINEER – (25 POSITIONS)
REPORTS TO: AREA MANAGER

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
In charge of Area technical operations including the water treatment plant, water production, water distribution, treatment & quality monitoring, field supervision of consultants and contractors during execution of stage capital works development programs, proper planning and design of water and sewerage systems upgrade and expansion and supervise delegated Technical works.

KEY RESULT AREAS
Specific Duties

• Ensures reliable water supply and distribution of water to branch customers
• Ensures that all unreported and hidden leakages in the network are discovered and repaired.
• Monitor workmanship and accountability of funds for new connection trenching, proper use and accountability of materials, verification of capital works, assets renewal and replacement
• Manages the activities of all employees under his/her control by ensuring organization, duty allocation, control, monitoring, evaluation, etc.
• Coordinates and monitors the activities of leak repairs on the network in order to minimize water losses.
• Ensures that customer complaints of technical nature are attended to within hours and to the customer’s satisfaction
• Monitors the water pressures and recommends necessary actions.
• Investigates all malpractices on the water network in the branch and ensures that all water connection conform to the procedures and standards laid down.
• Prepares relevant reports on routine basis regarding network activities
• Any other duties, which may be assigned from time to time.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• A bachelor’s degree in Civil/l/Water Engineering with the knowledge of hydraulics, fluid mechanics and distribution network or any other relevant discipline from a recognised University
• Computer knowledge and hands on computer experience is a prerequisite

Job requirements:

• This is a field based job and the candidate will be required to move extensively in the field
• Must be able to work for long hours in the field and can be called upon at any time and at odd hours to respond to field tasks.
• Must be able to ride a motorcycle in the field.
• Flexibility and team working.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

• Should possess high levels of initiative, commitment to work, ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and identify solutions to problems.
• Should be good team player highly motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision.
• Age below 35 years.
