Job details:
Protecting Families against HIV/AIDS (PREFA) is an indigenous Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was formed to contribute to Uganda’s efforts in enhancing access to quality HIV/AIDS prevention, care, treatment, and support services to families with a historical focus on Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission (eMTCT) of HIV. PREFA has expanded her efforts to improving acceptable and sustainable Sexual Reproductive Health Services and interventions against Commercial Sex Exploitation of Children (CSEC). Funding is from Centre for Disease, UKaid, Terre des Homme Netherlands (TDH-NL) and Girls’ Advocacy Alliance (GAA).

PREFA is currently looking for candidates to fill the following positions;

Reports to: Senior Driver
Liaises with: Program Officers, Community Officer, Program Area Manager of district of Operation
Duty Station: Kampala, Wakiso, Luweero, Nakasongola, Masaka, Kalungu and Lwengo.
Start Date: Immediate
Duration: Six months initially

Job Summary:

The driver will provide reliable, secure driving services, proper use and maintenance of office vehicles.

Key duties and responsibilities:

1. Transport staff and authorized person(s) to required destinations and back in accordance with PREFA Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and the Road Safety Act.
   
2. Operate and park vehicles in areas with maximum security of supplies to minimize losses and damage to PREFA property while in transit according to Traffic Regulation and PREFA parking policy.
   
3. Supporting field staff in delivering goods/supplies, distributing including loading and offloading when it is required.
   
4. Maintain the vehicle in good working conditions to reduce wear and tear for effective length of service of the vehicle.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

• A minimum of an Ordinary (O’ Level) Certificate or equivalent.
  
• Training in fleet management or equivalent is an added advantage.
  
• Valid drivers’ License with a good driving record.
  
• At least 3 years’ of working experience in an NGO setting.
  
• Computer knowledge, ability to read and write, understand and communicate clearly in English.
  
• Maintains high levels of integrity and reliability.
