BACKGROUND
The mission of the infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to build capacity of health systems in Africa with strong emphasis on infectious diseases through research, and capacity development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training; Research; Laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.
The IDI Grants Management Unit (GMU) is located within the Strategic Planning and Development department; it has primary responsibility for supporting the management of the entire grants/contracts cycle from opportunity identification and grants/contract acquisition to post-award management and reporting through to close-out. It currently supports over 80 awards/sub-awards to IDI. IDI is recruiting the following p0Siti0ns to support the Unit:
JOB TITLE: 4 GRANTS OFFICERS (G0s) (SUB-GRANTING)
REPORTING TO: MANAGER, SUB-GRANTING
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Grants Officers (Sub-Granting) will provide a range of support services to streamline sub-grantee management processes and procedures. G05 (Sub granting) may be required to be located at upcountry IDI Field Offices which provide programmatic oversight of sub-grantees.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Superior academic achievement with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a business! management area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial and administrative support: Supporting financial and administrative systems that service sub-grants throughout the sub-grant cycle ;tracklng sub-grantee documentation (including accountabilmes and reports) within the IDI transaction cycle and ensuring that it is promptly given due attention; supporting routine and non-routine reviews of sub-grantee reports, andlor sub-grantee processes and systems across the sub-granting cycle; supporting the Finance Otfice in processing of ongoing sub- grant -related transactions. Monitoring and tracking of subgrantee compliance and outputs: Supporting ongoing sub-grantee assessments and evaluations, including lDl and third party routine field reviews and audits. Documentation: Continuously updating all sub-grantee manual and electronic documentation and archival material and ensuring that it is appropnately filed Training & Capacity Building: Providing support for mentoring and training of subgrantees
General: Any other duties specified by the lDl Head of Strategic Planning & Development.

Compensation for all the above positions will be commensurate with training, experience and responsibilities as guided by IDI salary scales
