The American Refugee Committee (ARC) works with its partners and constituencies to provide opportunities and expertise to refugees, displaced people and host communities – to better survive conflicts and crisis, and to rebuild lives of dignity, health, security and self-sufficiency. ARC presently works in and with partners in ten countries globally. ARC has been operational in Uganda since 1994, and today has a strong and committed team of over 130 regular, full time national staff and partners. The overall goal of the Uganda program is to improve the well-being and self-reliance of the displaced refugee populations by ensuring the provision of basic services (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene; Community Services; SGBV/Protection; Child protection; Mental Health & Psychosocial support), currently in six refugee settlements - Nakivale, Oruchinga, Kyaaka II, Kyagwali, Bidi Bidi and Palabek - in Uganda. ARC is looking for competent, qualified, self-driven and committed individuals to be part of and contribute to accomplishing our ambitious and exciting 2018/2019 programming – several challenging full time positions, across the various refugee settlement sites as well as at the ARC main office – Kampala, Uganda:

Job Title: SGBV Officer (4 positions)
Location: Nakivale – 1 position, Bidi Bidi – 1 position, Kyangwali – 1 position and Oruchinga – 1 position

Job Summary
The SGBV Officer will be responsible for leading and coordinating ARC’s field-level SGBV program with the objective of preventing violence and discrimination and providing timely and effective responses to survivors of SGBV.

Minimum qualifications

• A Bachelors’ degree in Social Sciences, Community Psychology, and / or Social Work or related field required.
• At least four (4) years’ experience working with SGBV Survivors, preferably in refugee settings; and with knowledge of SASA! methodology essential.
• Must be fluent in written and spoken English. Language skills of populations that ARC serves (e.g. Kiswahili, Luo, Arabic, Nuer, Kinyarwanda, Somali, etc.)
• Motorbike riding experience and permit preferable.
