Watoto Church Ministries is a Christ-centered organization with 17 Celebration Centers, 3 Children’s Villages, 2 Baby Homes, an FM radio station, schools, and farms. The ministry operates with centralized services, including finance, to support all its entities.

Job Summary
The Accountant - Budgeting and Reporting will ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and budgeting for Watoto Church Ministries while maintaining compliance with financial policies and best practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Financial Analysis & Reporting
• Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports in line with financial policies.
• Generate monthly variance analysis reports and explain deviations from budgets and prior year figures.
• Maintain periodic balance sheet reconciliations and listings.
• Serve as the primary liaison for external audits, address audit queries, and implement recommendations.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
• Lead the coordination of the annual budget process.
• Implement budgetary controls and track departmental expenditures.
• Ensure quarterly realignments of budgets are done according to policy.
• Prepare quarterly financial forecasts and cost-control initiatives.
3. Process Controls & Execution
• Manage the accountable advance process and ensure adherence to controls.
• Review shared cost allocations and ensure accuracy.
• Review program reconciliations and ensure timely settlements.
4. Risk Management & Compliance
• Liaise with tax professionals to ensure proper tax compliance.
• Compute corporate and deferred taxes and prepare tax disclosures.
• File corporation tax returns and correspond with statutory bodies.
• Oversee retirement and benefit plans reporting.
5. Policies & Procedures
• Contribute to reviewing and updating financial policies to align with international standards.
• Participate in developing financial risk mitigation strategies.
6. Projects & Systems Development
• Develop and implement automated systems for accurate reporting.
• Ensure system modifications enhance data accuracy and operational efficiency.
7. Human Resource Management & Development
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and performance appraisal of team members.
• Define job descriptions and performance action plans for team members.
• Implement initiatives to enhance team performance.
8. Report Preparation
• Prepare data-driven reports for strategic decision-making.
• Formulate periodic and ad hoc reports for management and the Deacons Finance Committee.
• Organize periodic meetings of the Deacons Finance Committee.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Educational Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field from a reputable university.
• Professional certification (completed or ongoing) in ACCA, CPA, or a similar organization.
Experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a busy finance and accounts function.
• Proficiency in accounting systems, with knowledge of Solomon being an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
• Strong financial analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Deep understanding of financial principles, cash management, and risk analysis.
• Strong reporting and presentation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
• Attention to detail and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
