We are looking to hire suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following position:

Accountant Revenue

Primary Responsibility: To provide assistance to the Financial Controller in ensuring revenue and related account balances are reported accurately and in line with relevant international Accounting Standards, legal and statutory requirements as well as underlying stakeholder agreements for the different company revenue streams. To provide supervisory support to junior staff in the finance department

Specific Responsibilities

• Weekly and monthly revenue reporting and analysis for all divisions.
• Preparation of monthly revenue and cash projections.
• Assist in preparation of monthly reports and accompanying schedules, including budget vs. actual variance reports and supporting narratives, including follow-up and documentation of significant variances identified.
•  Preparation of monthly returns to the ministry for all relevant divisions.
• Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations for review by the financial controller including follow up of long outstanding reconciling items identified.
• Monitoring collections from customers on a weekly basis including follow up of long outstanding/overdue balances.
• Preparation of recurrent journal entries for review by the financial controller.
• Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
• Any other duties as may be assigned by management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• A degree in commerce/ accounting or business related course with a professional qualification either of ACCA/CIMA/CPA.
•  Thorough understanding of international Accounting Standards, international Financial Reporting Standards as well as working knowledge of local tax laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of accounting software and other computer applications e.g MS Word, MS Excel etc. Previous experience in working with SUN system is an added advantage.
• At least four years working experience in a similar role in a busy organisation.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask.
• High standards of integrity
• Excellent numeric skills
• Willingness to work long hours
• Strong attention to detail
•  Ability to work well under pressure and with tight time constraints
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout within the company.
• Team player who is also able to work independently
