JOB DETAILS:
East African Premier Investments Limited (EAPIL) is a private microfinance company limited by shares. It was founded and registered in 2006 by Uganda Development Trust (UDET) to conduct private lending business as a profit generating venture. EAPIL is established by law, with a valid license for Non-Deposit taking institution, to do sustainable and competitive business in the Republic of Uganda and the East Africa region, thus contribute to the Private Sector Driven Economy of the country.

Overall responsibility
To assemble and analyse financial data including but not limited to the Company's revenue, receivables and payables and prepare financial statements that accurately reflect business activity for in-depth financial analysis; to support decision making and facilitate efficient resource allocation.

Specific Responsibilities
• Maintain accurate books of accounts
• Financial statements preparation and analysis
• Budgeting and forecasting
• Tax planning and compliance
• Internal controls and risk management
• Management of the treasury function and financial planning
• Adherence to the accounting standards and local regulatory frameworks.

Duties
• Record, maintain, control and mark (where practicable) all EAPIL assets;
• Generate promptly adequate financial information and reports for control, decision making, extemal reporting, compliance with the law and any other requirements.
• Prepare financial reports within specified time and ensure discussion and finalization of reports with external auditors within the legally required time frame.
• Supervise, oversee, and motivate subordinate staff.
• Prepare financial data for audit well in time.
• Maintain financial data backups, and
• Verify the accuracy of all recorded information in the system.
• File EAPIL's annual income tax returns and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prevention of errors and fraudulent activities

Desired Qualifications and Experience:
• A bachelor's degree in business studies with an accounting option
• Possession of a professional accounting qualification such as CPA or ACCA.
• Knowledge of automated accounting programs
• Skills in use of Microsoft excel and word are desirable.
• Three years minimum working experience in a relevant institution, preferably MFL
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide spectrum of stakeholders.
• Good command of written and spoken English
