About the role:
This Fellowship will have an initial 12 month contract, with potential for extension. As we look to expand UpEnergy, there may also be opportunities for exceptional candidates to join the team on a full time basis once the initial fellowship is completed. This role can be Remote, or in ideally in one of UpEnergy African markets - to be discussed with the hiring manager.

This fellowship is available in part-time regime, ideal for current PhD students.

Key Responsibilities:
• ARR market development: Provide technical expertise for the development of innovative ARR projects. Monitor market developments in the ARR world, to ensure competitive advantages through utilization of data on ARR credit prices and buyers, technological advancements, emerging standards, etc.
• Business development/ Project expansion: Through research and insights gathering, share suggestions on geographical expansion for ARR projects. Identify and assess project expansion opportunities in and outside of Mozambique through networking and relevant research on available land, species and climate conditions, infrastructure, demand, etc.
• Funding: look for and apply for grants that can support the development of this project
• Project management: Be the main point of contact for ARR related questions for local partners, run key strategic initiatives from ideation to completion and manage day-to-day interactions between UpEnergy, local NGOs, farmers, research institutions, our local partner and other stakeholders.
• Problem solving and educational campaigns: help the local team expand the ARR knowledge, run stakeholder consultation sessions with locals, including for local farmers, NGOs etc

Does that sound like you?
• An MBA, PhD, MA graduate or in pursuant of in the areas of environmental science, regenerative agriculture, sustainability, Agricultural Engineering or related
• Experience working in a high performing environment
• Experience building systems and processes to support organizational growth
• Experience designing well-considered strategy (strategic), as well as successfully delivering projects
• Ability to use data, insights to map out effective strategies

• Professional fluency in English is required. Portuguese or French would be a plus
