Self Help Africa (SHA) is an International Hon-Governmental Organisation implementing rural development. sustainable food and livelihoods security programmes in nine countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. SHA's vision is an economically thriving and resilient rural Africa with a mission to support sustainable livelihoods for Uganda's smallholder farmers. SHA has been working in Uganda for close to 20 years. SHA in partnership with UN World Food Programme LWFP} and two District Local Governments [DLGs} is implementing the next phase of the Agriculture and Market Support [AMS) project in Kiryandongo and Adjumani Districts. The projects overall objective is to contribute to resilient and diversified livelihoods for smallholder farmers, especially women. SHA urgently seeks to recruit a suitable candidate to fill the following position to support the work of the Project.
Agribusiness Facilitator (Based in Kiryandongo)
Under the overall supervision of the Agribusiness Project Manager, the Agribusiness Facilitator will support the effective planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the AMS project in their respective districts. S/he will provide technical backstopping to producer organisations and associations in order to promote and expand capacity in agro-marketing.
Reporting directly to the Agribusiness Project Manager, the Agribusiness Facilitator. .
Key responsibility areas include:
• Mobilize farmer organisations to contribute resources for production, post-harvest management and marketing selected agro commodities;
• Develop and or improve comprehensive training materials for effective delivery of training to the farmer organisations and associations:
• Support. strengthen bulking and collective marketing, including training on bulking and collective marketing. support to SCP lending schemes:
• Support and/or facilitate farmer organisations and associations to develop and implement comprehensive business and store plans to improve their business operations.
