Nile Vocational Institute (NVI) is a Christian Private Vocational Institute established by the African Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE), a Ugandan NGO in partnership with a Germany child Care organisation Kindernothilfe (KNH) helping a child in in need in 1988.
NVI has been ranked the leading Private Vocational Institute in the country by the visionaries of Uganda under skilling of Uganda awards for the last six years.

Job Title: Assistant Librarian
Reports to: Deputy Director Training and Academics
Over all purpose:
Take lead in the development, control, management and coordination of all Library and information services.
Duties and responsibilities (Key Result Areas)
1. Timely opening and closing of the Library for usage
2. Cataloguing and Classification of books.
3. Stock-taking and bibliographic work,
4. Preserving and Conservation of books.
5. Manage library spaces and facilities to ensure they are best utilized and maintained
6. Manage the library collection in order to support teaching and learning goals of the Institute
7. Maintaining of Library records.
8. Supervision of preps
9. Compiling of Library Reports and Statistics
10. Supervising any other Library work
11. collaborating with teaching and library staff to support inquiry learning and literacy programmes, for example:
a consulting with teaching staff about the reading needs of their students
b. helping individual students to find books to engage their interest, and
C. Supporting students as readers.
12. Provide weekly and monthly reports on the affairs of the library
13. Perform any other duties that may be assigned in the normal course of doing business
Persons Specifications
1. Bachelor of Records and Archives management (BRAM) from a recognized institution
2. Computer literacy skills in Library/Documentation work are essential
3. Good Team Player
Experience and competencies
1. Three years' experience in an institution of higher learning.
2. Innovative and self-driven with proven leadership and managerial skills,
3. Ability to relate to students,
4. A high level of maturity and integrity, Results-oriented, Ability to plan, execute and monitor departmental plans,
5. Excellent analytical and writing skills, 6. Good report writing skills.
7. Ability to work long hours,
