JOB DETAILS:
1. The Assignment:
To disseminate modern technologies for Agroforestry through the promotion of fruit tree planting for home consumption and livelihoods improvement in Buliisa and Nwoya Districts in Uganda.

About Kilimo Trust
Kilimo Trust (KT) is an independent Regional agricultural development organization - working on agriculture for development across the EAC Region. It is registered in the Republic of Uganda, and it implements projects across all EAC Partner States. The core business of KT is to support the transformation of food and nutrition security in the EAC Region away from high-risk subsistence farming into lower risk trade-based systems.

2. About the Assignment:
The Associate will be required to:
a) Strengthen linkages between District Officials, KT, and other relevant stakeholders in the implementation area.
b) Supervise Village Agents and farmers to plant and tend the seedlings supplied.
c) Conduct all activities in accordance with approved project plan and budget.
d) Build the capacity of the village agents and farmers in modern Agroforestry techniques.
e) Collect analyze and report progress against project deliverables.
f) Conduct regular field/site visits to manage, guide, review and evaluate tree planting initiative progress.
g) Manage and ensure accurate data capturing and analysis about the tree planting initiative.
h) Prepare and maintain accurate project datasets.

3. Technical Requirements.
The Resident Associate will be required to.
a) Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills.
b) Ability to operate independently when carrying out established, recurring and nonrecurring tasks.
c) Excellent technical skills in writing, editing, formatting, research, negotiation, and verbal communications.
d) Attention to detail.
e) . Diploma in any field of Forestry, or Agroforestry; Environmental Management; Natural Resource Management majoring in Silviculture with strong understanding of Agroforestry and rural development.
f) A bachelor’s degree in any of the above fields or any other relevant qualification.
g) Demonstrated experience in the Agroforestry sector is a definite advantage.
h) Ability to speak and communicate well in any of the local languages of Buliisa and Nwoya is an added advantage.
i) Be willing and able to reside in Buliisa and Nwoya for the entire duration of the project.

4. The assignment will start in September 2023
