Rooted Wisdom Africa is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support our team and ensure smooth workplace operations. This part-time role involves managing all financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing essential bookkeeping and administrative support. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and personable, excelling in financial management while also assisting with office operations such as supply management, compliance, and process optimization.
General Duties:
Record daily transactions and maintain company financial records.
Prepare financial reports and highlight discrepancies between expected and actual data.
Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.
Complete tax forms and collaborate with accountants to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Provide strong administrative support, empowering team members to work productively and efficiently.
Communicate policy changes, announcements, and other relevant office information to team members.
Provide financial training and guidance on office procedures to enhance team efficiency.
Procure all office and program supplies to ensure availability; and keep the office equipment in working order.
Ensure a welcoming and professional environment for office visitors.
Develop and implement office processes to enhance efficiency and financial transparency.
Skills & Qualifications:
High attention to detail and accuracy in all financial and administrative tasks.
Trustworthy, honest, and able to handle confidential financial information with discretion.
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and financial operations.
Experience working with nonprofit financial structures.
Proficiency in accounting software and strong computer literacy.
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and over the phone.
Ability to multitask and shift priorities throughout the workday.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in administrative support or office management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to analyze and improve processes for greater efficiency.
Excellent report-writing and documentation skills.
At this time, the position is 2.5 days per week. The position requires in-person support and may require relocation to the Lwengo District.
