Marie Stopes Uganda is seeking to recruit a Business Development Officer that will support the development of grant proposals in relation Marie Stopes Uganda's programming. The Officer reporting to the Head of Programmes and located at the MSU Support Office in Kampala will work in partnership with technical teams in identifying and tracking funding opportunities, circulate relevant opportunities to key internal stakeholders, support proposal writing, and facilitate bid/no bid decision—making. S/he ensures the security and integrity of all proposal documentation, oversees the internal flow and review of all proposal inputs, manages schedules to ensure the timely completion of all proposal components, coordinates activities with cross functional business areas, and directs submission of final proposals.

The Business Development Officer will have the following key responsibilities;

  • Resource Mobilisation:
  • Support MSU in the acquisition of new grants and maintenance of current portfolio to increase grant funding aligned to Marie Stopes Uganda strategy;
  • Identify new grant opportunities by building relationships with a variety of donors, researching donor websites, monitoring newspapers and collaborating with MSl Offices globally;
  • Coordinate internal meetings and support relevant Marie Stopes Uganda stafi to assess grant opportunities and collect inputs needed to develop highly competitive proposals;
  • Develop a grant opportunity tracker and ensure MSU responds in a timely manner for on-time submission of grant proposals.
  • Manage Actions for pre-solicitation proposal preparations and bid planning including: teaming, bid strategy, development of win-themes, oversight of and contribution to technical design, drafting management and other sections ot the proposal in advance of the solicitation.

Proposal Writing:

  • Support technical leads in proposal development in selected areas of Marie Stopes Uganda's work during the design of new projects and redesign of existing ones.
  • Develop and maintain a proposal tracker that tracks technical and cost proposal progress to ensure milestones are met, and ensure that all project leads are aware / reminded of what is expected of him/her and when tasks are due.
  • Work closely with Marie Stopes Uganda technical
  • Support effective and ongoing communication among MSU, partners and collaborators throughout the proposal development process.
  • Oversee the collection of all required proposal forms, materials, etc. as stipulated in the funders’ requests for proposals (solicited and unsolicited concept papers, full proposals, etc.).
  • Quality-control proposal components to ensure compliance with donor requirements and MSU standards and competitiveness prior to production and distribution.
  • Assemble and submit complete proposals, including technical and cost elements.
  • Work on multiple proposals at varying stages of developmentsimultaneously and largelyindependently.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Masters level degree in Humanities discipline, international development or related technical discipline relevant. e Knowledge on Sexual Reproductive Health and rights
  • 5 years of experience in successful proposal development
