As part of our commitment to creating lasting impact, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CITE Civil Engineer to join our team in Uganda.
Job Description:
As a CITE Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all civil engineering projects for PILLARS in Uganda. This includes, but is not limited to, conducting site surveys, designing and planning construction projects, managing budgets and timelines, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards. You will work closely with our local partners and community members to ensure that projects are sustainable and meet the needs of the local population.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine feasibility of proposed projects
• Design and plan construction projects, including roads, buildings, and water and sanitation systems
• Develop detailed project budgets and timelines, and monitor progress to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
• Coordinate with local partners and community members to ensure projects meet their needs and are sustainable
• Ensure compliance with all local regulations and standards for construction projects
• Oversee construction activities and provide technical support and guidance to project teams
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and identify any issues or challenges that may arise
• Prepare and submit project reports to senior management, highlighting any key achievements or challenges
• Mentor and train junior engineers and support staff to build their technical capacity
• Collaborate with other departments within PILLARS to ensure integration and alignment of projects with our overall mission and objectives
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering, preferably in developing countries
• Strong knowledge of construction techniques and materials, as well as local regulations and standards
• Experience managing budgets and timelines for construction projects
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Willingness to travel to project sites within Uganda as needed We Offer:
