Our client is The Insurance Institute of Uganda (IIU) is a training body of the insurance industry in Uganda and is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and competent individual to fill the vacancy below;

POSITION: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

About the job:

Reporting to the Governing Council, the CEO supervises and controls all strategic and business aspects of the company, responsible for giving the proper strategic direction as well as creating a vision for success.

The CEO will drive the company’s development and guide it towards long-term success.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership:

• Participate with the Board of Directors in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization
• Identify, assess, and inform the Board of Directors of internal and external issues that affect the organization
• Act as a professional advisor to the Board of Director on all aspects of the institute's activities
• Lead and motivate subordinates to advance employee engagement develop a high performing managerial team
• In addition to the Chair of the Board, act as a spokesperson for the organization
• Conduct official correspondence on behalf of the Board as appropnate and jointly with the Board when appropriate
• Represent the organization at community activities to enhance the organization's community profile.
• Develop high quality business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives as agreed upon with GC and BOT
• Oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission

 Financial planning and management

• Work with staff and the Board (Finance Committee) to prepare a comprehensive budget

Work with the Board to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organization

Participate in fundraising activities as appropriate

Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the Board

Ensure that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed

Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization

Determine staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery

Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices including the including the development of job description for all staff

Qualifications

• University degree in Business Administration or any other related Field ‘
• MSc/MA in business administration or relevant field
• Any added qualifications will be an added bonus
• 10 years proven experience as CEO or in other managerial position
• The individual must have relevant insurance knowledge and experience preferably having worked in the insurance industry
