JOB DETAILS:
Our client, one of the leading distributors in Uganda that offers a range of Fast-Moving Consumer goods in the categories of Personal Care (Hair and Skin), Stationery, Home care and Foods & Beverages seeks to bring on board an experienced and dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As the CFO, you will play a pivotal role in guiding the financial strategies and ensuring the company's continued growth and success. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive team and serves as a vital link between financial management and overall company operations. Reporting directly to the Managing Director (MD), the CFO will directly oversee financial activities, such as budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, securing of funding for business needs and provide strategic financial guidance while ensuring the company's financial health.

Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the MD and the board to develop and execute the company's strategic vision, including cultivating stakeholder relationships and negotiating contracts.
• Identify new funding opportunities, draft budgets, and assess the cost-effectiveness of service delivery.
• Manage the finance unit, training staff on financial management best practices.
• Ensure the ERP system provides real-time information and supports all business departments.
• Implement internal controls, substantiating documentation, and regulatory compliance to pass audits with ease.
• Prepare and oversee financial reports, including revenue/expense, cash flow, and balance sheets.
• Manage purchasing and payment activities while optimizing operational efficiency and profitability.
• Supervise independent auditors and ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Oversee cost analysis, hedging strategies, and expenditure authorisations.
• Attend Board and Subcommittee meetings and lead the Audit/Finance Committee.
• Monitor banking and treasury activities to guarantee sufficient cash flow.
• Work with the supply chain team to maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Prepare quarterly management accounts, financial statement analysis. cash flow projections.
• Design, implement, and calculate wage incentives, commissions, and salaries.
• Manage Accounts Payables and Accounts Receivables.
• Minimise business risks through insurance coverage and other appropriate measures.
• Maintain an updated and accurate fixed assets register for non-current assets.
• Ensure statutory compliance.
• Working capital Management
• ESG
• Team leadership, mentorship and development.
• Championing the business’ digitization and innovation to identify new revenue and margin opportunities.
• Safeguarding the business from revenue and margin leakage.
Reports Expected:
• Weekly cash position, stock statuses, and product data.
• Monthly Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
• Monthly performance reviews against budgets and rolling estimates.
• Monthly sales target achievement reports for supplier discussions.
• Quarterly management accounts with comparatives to previous periods and budgets.
• Quarterly financial statement analysis against agreed KPIs.
• Half-yearly performance reports for ICT, Logistics, and Finance.
• Annual financial statements for local and affiliate businesses in Mauritius.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• CFO-level experience in a similar organisation.
• At least 8 years of financial and management experience, with a minimum of 50 staff.
• Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Familiarity with issues affecting new employees and importation of goods in Uganda.
• Understanding of laws, regulations, and rules governing distribution businesses.
• Knowledge of the taxation regime in Uganda.
• Expertise in organisational development, human resources, and operations management.
• Proficiency in general office software, including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP and MIP software or similar general ledger software.
• Experience in creating and assessing financial statements and budget documents.
• Strong leadership skills, with a track record of supervising staff and driving improvement plans.
