Chief Mechanical Engineer

Job description
The Chief Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for all activities under the Mechanical Engineering discipline, including but are not limited to engineering design and drafting, specification writing, cost estimating, field investigations and construction site visits, mechanical and plumbing system functional evaluations, fire safety systems, HVAC load calculations and modeling, hydraulic calculations, and coordination with other team members including electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Responsible for the mechanical engineering components during the construction works including fabrication, equipment maintenance, plumbing works, HVAC systems, fire safety systems among others
• Responsible for the mechanical design basis, technical schemes and standards
• Ensure adequate interfaces between other disciplines.
• Review and analysis of the mechanical documents and drawings;
• Provide guidance during equipment procurement and coordinate, review and approve documents submitted by the equipment suppliers.
• Provide technical services and support during planning, construction, installation, and commissioning of projects

Qualifications
• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or any other related discipline

Skills and experience
• Eight (8) years’ experience working in major construction projects out of which two (2) years are at a supervisory level
• Knowledge of plumbing systems, HVAC and fire protection systems is preferred.
• Experience using AutoCAD and other 3D design tools
• Knowledge of building codes and industry standards required
• Ability to lead a mechanical / utilities team from concept design through start-up required
