About the Role
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Operating O cer (COO) will support the transformation of the organisation to ensure that the short, medium and long-term goals of the Strategic Plan are met. This involves a collaborative approach and leadership to organisational and structural change, asset management, service innovation, sustainability, operational e ciencies, and business intelligence. This person will inspire a high-performance culture.
This portfolio will incorporate the successful delivery of the:
• Leadership to drive capital and operational e ciency improvements.
• Organisational growth;
• Ensure support and attainment of the Strategic Plan, Budgets and Acquisitions.
• Service design to successfully deliver agreed Stakeholder service levels;
• Systems, data reporting, and business intelligence.
• The COO will optimise TIV’s operating capabilities, execute the company strategy to maximize stakeholder satisfaction, and ensure all TIV initiatives/programs & Regional locations are optimally performing.
• The COO will assist in overseeing the company's budget performance, and employ strategies to safeguard assets and promote the TIV brand. You will support the compilation of financial reports, and control financial policies and procedures. You will team up with management to implement business strategies.

• Collaborate with CEO in setting and driving organizational vision, and operations strategy,
• Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operations planning.
• Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture that ensures team members can thrive and that organizational goals are met
• Ensure compliance with national and local business regulations, and take appropriate action when necessary
Key Result Areas
Business Operations
• Implement business strategies and plans that align with the short- and long-term objectives developed in tandem with CEO
• Monitor performance and tracking and take corrective measures when necessary, and prepare detailed updates and forecasts
• Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement to deliver organizational process improvement.
• Stay up to date on industry regulations and trends and obtain required Licenses and permits so that all MOTIV sites run with legality and conformity to established regulations
• Monitor health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace and advise employees and Clients on how to minimize or ultimately avoid the same.
• Develops and implements policies for daily operations, and communicates these policy changes to department supervisors Finance
• Generate and manage factory production budgets and costs, e ectively
• Work with Facilities Lead to develop and oversee facilities maintenance budgets and costs
• Oversee planning, maintenance, and e ciency while managing operational expenditure (OPEX) of MOTIV
• Prepare operational reports and management reports.
• Manage capital investments and expenses aggressively to ensure that the company achieves investor targets for growth and profitability
• Business Development
• Manage the day-to-day business of the operations department while balancing the responsibilities of various business lines such as business analysis, suppliers and risk management.
• Establish and maintain credible, professional relationships with clients, internal business lines, and external vendors.
• Providing room for innovation by ensuring that space encourages innovation and an inspiring working atmosphere
• Ensure alignment with current company policies and goals, including those that the COO creates themselves, as well as those developed by the CEO and other executives
• Head outreach and business relations to build and maintain trusting relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders Strategy
• Ensure that TIV balances rigour, excellence, accountability, innovation, and transparency in delivering results for our Partners and Community, maximising opportunities through responsible risk management.
• Design an operational framework where systems, people, policies and processes are accessible and enable users to deliver on performance outcomes;
• Champion TIV’s strategic planning process and Implementation.
• In meeting TIV’s Vision and Mission, the COO will play a critical role in transforming the organisation. The COO will lead change that creates a proactive service model and organisational framework that meets the current and future needs of the Partners and the TIV community by;
Working e ectively with the Senior Leadership Team to lead change;
Creating a vision and influence progress towards that vision;
Engage the values and goals of individuals and groups to commit to and drive change;
Build teams and identify champions to energise and reinforce desired change;
Engaging and introduce actions that redesign organizational structures, processes and systems.
Formulate business frameworks and assumptions to achieve desired outcomes; continuously assessing organizational opportunity and championing innovation for e cient business delivery and sustainability.
• Oversee and ensure TIV’s assets are periodically maintained, kept secure and optimally performing at all times when required.
About You
You have experience in communication strategy, planning and execution.
• You are creative with a passion for delivering memorable and exemplary experiences
• You have a track record in leading content development and storytelling with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Team Leadership and support to ensure an e ective performance management system is in place to support performance, including setting clear expectations.
• You describe yourself as a self-starter that’s excited to work in a fast-paced, start-up environment and are passionate about building things (teams, companies, people)
• You have managed budgets before, and you have an eye for budget variance
• Willing to get your hands dirty - we’re a small but mighty team and need people with the ability to roll up their sleeves and work side-by-side with their team to get it done
• You have Entrepreneurial DNA with Stellar networking skills and the ability to make smart partnerships happen
• Demonstrated ability to maintain calm and good judgment in a fast-paced & dynamic environment
• Kaizen! (Constantly improving yourself and your peers) Academic Qualification
• Bachelor's Degree in marketing / Social Sciences / PR / Business Management. A member of CIM / CAM/ CIPR or any related professional marketing / PR body; startup experience preferred
