Communication for Healthy Communities (CHC) is a five - year program (ending July 2018) implemented through a cooperative agreement between the United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Uganda) and FHl 360. The program supports the Government of Uganda (GOU) and US government (USG) implementing partners to design and implement quality health communication interventions to contribute to reduction in HIV infections, total fertility, maternat & child mortality, malnutrition, malaria & tuberculosis. We seek applications for the following vacancy:

Chief of Party
The Chief of Party shall provide overall strategic leadership and oversight to the CHC project. The ideal candidate should exhibit an appropriate balance of technical, managerial, and interpersonal skills and experience. S/he shall have a deep understanding of Communication for Healthy Communities program goals and objectives and be able to articulate the strategic vision forthe program. Experience in interacting with host country agencies including central and local government, development partners, civil society and community based organisations is essential. Appointment of the successful applicant is subject to USAID approval.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure an integrated vision for the project, and a focus on achieving the results defined in the contract and work plan.
  • Oversee the successful acliieveinont of the entire project, objectives, deliverables, and impact.
  • Act as the key liaison between USAlD/Uganda and all other counterparts, implementing partners and Government of Uganda officials involved with the project.
  • Oversee all project-to-USAID communication, contract reporting and work planning.
  • Supervises technical and finance/administration teams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Master's Degree or higher in Public Health, Social Sciences or equivalent field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing responsibility working in public health in the fields of health communication, promotion and/or education
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in working collaboratively with donors, host country institutions, and international organizations.
  • Demonstrated management experience leading large USAID-funded projects.
  • A solid understanding and appreciation of USAID project processes, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Relevant field experience in Uganda or similar setting with significant management responsibility, including supervisory and team building experience of professional (technical staff).
  • Ability to work independently with initiative to manage high volume work flow.
