Overview of the Position:
CorpsAfrica is looking for an experienced trainer/educator to lead the CorpsAfrica training program in Uganda, which includes four major trainings throughout the course of the year: Pre-Service Training, In-Service Training #1, In-Service Training #2, and Close of Service Conference. The Training Officer is responsible for providing all of the logistical and administrative support needed for each of these training. The Training officer is also responsible for leading and facilitating the human-centered design (HCD) and asset-based community development (ABCD) training as well as other components of the overall training program. She/He must possess a demonstrated passion for and commitment to youth leadership, participatory community development, and training. The Training officer reports to the Uganda Country Director.
POSITION DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for a self-motivated and talented communications officer to lead our communications department. In this position, you will oversee producing high-quality content that engages our members, followers and builds brand recognition. The main duties will also include creating informative content, articles, and media opportunities to share our organization’s brand. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, with brilliant presentation, and organizational skills and will be based in Uganda.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement effective communication strategies that grow audiences connected to the organization’s work.
• Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all communications materials.
• Manage the organization’s social media communications.
• Work with executive and program teams to generate new ideas and strategies.
• Support program and volunteer teams to compile monthly blogs/case stories.
• Organize periodic media campaigns on television, radio, and online platforms.
• Manage and support the development of all print and electronic materials.
• Organize periodic documentation of field activities and case stories.
• Respond to communication-related issues in a timely manner.
• Create and support editing of multimedia content including videos, animations, and infographics for the website, social media, quarterly newsletters (print and/ or online), and other appropriate outlets.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, social work, journalism, public relations, or a relevant field.
• A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
• Having worked with local communities is an added advantage
• Proven experience creating targeted content is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
• Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
• Detail oriented.
• Have the ability to use content digital tools such as Canva, inshot.
