WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The community Manager champions our mission to build a community of high growth startups and entrepreneurs while connecting them to the network, resources, and community they need to scale. You are responsible for operational excellence and member experience and extending our services to the community within and beyond our walls.
You will deliver direct support to The Innovation Village Programs implementation within the region of deployment. In the Next Wave Program through the skilling and enterprise strengthening/ enterprise growth components, the Community Manager will work closely with the Regional Manager, key stakeholders within the region, individuals, and groups of youth entrepreneurs to ensure program interventions translate to youth in work. S/he will be responsible for timely and effective implementation of project activities and achievement of a portion of the project’s goal to reach out to at least 9,800 youth through (outreach) skilling and enterprise strengthening support activities which should result into at least 14,000 youth in work.
S/he will be responsible for work planning, ensuring quality and timely activity implementation, monitoring and evaluation, documentation and submission of timely and quality monthly narrative report to the Regional Manager. He/she will directly supervise three external Youth Entrepreneur trainers and ensure they are appropriately delivering trainings and capturing participant attendance.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES.
Mobilisation, activation, and membership development:
• Provide excellent onboarding experience for all members, prospective members and stakeholders.
• Create a high quality, curated member environment identifying and executing opportunities to connect members with each other while proactively spotting opportunities for potential community involvement to support our members.
• Oversee & maximize community events ensuring goals are met and event spaces are optimised and occupied to the highest degree of member enrichment events and revenue generating opportunities
• Manage the spaces to the Innovation Village’s excellent operational and high quality hospitality standard
• Support the planning and supervision of educational, professional and personal development events based on members’ needs and requests
• Promote TIV program initiatives and their benefits in the Community spaces and given program areas.
• Identify and recruit members/participants for TIV Program activities
• Guide youth Trainers to Facilitate group orientation and team building activities to solidify relationships within the group and support identification of appropriate and safe training/meeting venues within the project area.
Partnership development and Management:
• Develop and strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the different regions of operation. Partners/stakeholders are but not limited to Financial Service Providers, Media, District Local Government, City councils, CSOs and private sector actors.
• Provide Business advisory, guidance and any other necessary support as needed by the community members.
• Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure proper understanding of the Innovation Village programs to enhance collaboration.
• Oversee regular programming & events to make sure we’re creating a valuable experience for members
• Build the Innovation Village reputation through outreach and business development
Capacity building & Community strengthening
• Support building and improvement of capacity building initiatives within the community. Participate in developing skilling manuals and oversee delivery of training initiatives for Entrepreneurs and other community members.
• Ensure that delivery of enterprise strengthening support is of high quality, is appropriate to the local context and business needs and is effectively reaching young people and enhancing their business growth.
• Identify key product improvement and specialized skills gaps as well as enterprise strengthening needs within the youth businesses and relative to the local economic opportunities and provide appropriate training and support to fill the gaps.
Monitoring Evaluation and reporting.
• Endeavour to follow up & provide business advisory as well as other required support to the entrepreneurs who face various challenges.
• Actively participate in regular team meetings to track Programs implementation progress and share relevant field data to the Monitoring and Evaluation/Data Unit.
• Provide after-training support to program beneficiaries to track their progress in areas such as Youth in work opportunities, New businesses started, Business growth and expansion.
• Collect relevant data for monitoring and evaluation purposes
• Ensure that Youth trainers enter attendance data as required.
Sales & Operations
• Ensure the Village space under your care is running smoothly from an operations & process perspective
• Oversight and responsibility including manage member turn-over.
• Take an active role in sales including tours, accounts and targeted goals.
ABOUT YOU
Experience
• Passionate about innovation, creativity and building things (teams, companies, people)
• 5+ years of experience in Impactful and effective program implementation in the areas of youth skills and enterprise development, livelihoods, food security and poverty alleviation.
• A connector and relationship-builder – you’re the person who knows everyone
• Willing to get your hands dirty – we’re a small but mighty team and need people with the ability to roll up their sleeves and work side-by-side with their team to get it done
