JOB DETAILS:
Terms of reference for data cleaning, analysis interpretation and presentation for SRP standard and Performance indicator in comparison to the baseline data sets.
This Terms of reference is being sought to accomplish work on data analysis, interpretation and presentation for both seasonal SRP standard and Performance indicators in comparison to the baseline values of the same for the DGD rice program together with the G-STIC project being implemented by Rikolto Uganda.
Rice is the daily staple food of 3.5 billion people. One out of 5 people on our planet derives a livelihood from rice. In 2050, the world will face a big production shortfall estimated at 40%. How can we address this global challenge while protecting the environment, adapting to and mitigating climate change impacts, and uplifting smallholder’s livelihoods? And how can we guarantee that consumers have access to safe, healthy and sustainable rice?
Rice producers are both victims and contributors to climate change. Today, they are already amongst the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change due to high temperatures, and raising sea levels. At the same time, flooded paddy fields are estimated to generate about 10% of global methane emissions. Rice requires about 40% of the world’s irrigation water, putting intense pressure on sometimes scarce water resources. Consumers are increasingly raising their demand for safe and healthy rice but this demand is not yet at the level where it can push adoption of the sustainable practices.
The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) is a global multi-stakeholder partnership with over 100 members working towards a common goal to promote resource efficiency and sustainability in the global rice sector and enable 1 million rice farmers to adopt climate smart sustainable best practices by 2030.
