JOB DETAILS:
Position: Coordinator, Civic Space and Governance Monitoring
Reporting to the Head of Programmes, the Coordinator will lead UNNGOF’s efforts in influencing internal and external (including global) operating environment issues of NGDs and ensuring a positive environment for NGO operations and citizen engagement in governance and development processes. .
Roles and Responsibilities
• Develop annual work plans and budgets for the Civic Space and Governance Monitoring component and ensure timely delivery of set targets;
• Coordinate efforts in ensuring a progressive legal framework for NGOs and tracking developments in the NGO Operating Environment;
• Coordinate engagements in building civic literacy and improving citizen consciousness and nationalism in partnership with sub~national, national and regional partners;
• Coordinate civil society efforts in mobilizing citizen participation in governance and development processes;
• Identify potential partners for collaboration and networking at sub-national, national, regional and international level;
• Produce progress reports against set targets as per the donor schedules and UNNGDF Strategic Plan;
• Ensure monitoring and evaluation processes for Civic Space and Governance Monitoring Component meet quality standards
• Ensure budget management following UNNGOF and donor financial guidelines
• Supervise and mentor staff under the Civic Space and Governance Monitoring Component;
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Programmes
Competences
• Must possess a Masters degree in the fields of social work, development economics, and political science and or any other related field.
• 3 - 5 years working experience in a managerial and or senior position in the NGO sector.
• Possess excellent analytical and writing skills with proficient computer knowledge.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and public relations skills.
• Experience in community mobilization.
• Proven high level of integrity and professionalism.
• Good understanding of civil society, governance and political economy issues in Uganda and globally.
