About the role
We seek a Corporate Finance Director to play a key role in the financial management of the company. The Corporate Finance Director will report to the CFO and work closely with other members of senior management to ensure alignment and execution of UpEnergy’s corporate finance strategy.
Desired Skills, Characteristics, and Experience
- Education and experience: The candidate should have a bachelor's or master’s degree in finance, economics, or business administration, and several years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or a similar field.
- Experience with investment and financing transactions: The candidate should have a proven track record of successfully closing investment and financing transactions, including equity and debt financing, M&A, and strategic partnerships. Experience with climate finance / carbon markets is desired.
- Strong financial modeling skills: The candidate should have extensive experience with building complex financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, forecast financial performance, and analyze scenarios.
- Analytical mindset: The candidate should be highly analytical and able to think critically to identify key drivers of financial performance, assess risks and opportunities, and develop actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills: The candidate should be an excellent communicator, able to clearly and concisely present complex financial information to a variety of stakeholders, including investors, board members, and senior executives.
- Strategic thinker: The candidate should be able to think strategically and provide valuable insights and recommendations to help guide business decision-making.
- Proactive and self-motivated: The candidate should be able to work independently, take ownership of projects and initiatives, and proactively identify and pursue opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Strong technical skills: The candidate should be proficient in financial analysis software, such as Excel, and other relevant tools and technologies.
- Attention to detail: The candidate should have excellent attention to detail and be able to produce high-quality work products with minimal errors or oversights.
- Travel: The candidate might be expected to periodically travel to UpEnergy countries of operation and/or to meet with potential partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial planning & analysis

- Own the corporate financial model used for financial planning and analysis across the business.
- Oversee other financial models and tools used for project origination and financing, project performance tracking and reporting, and other analysis.
- Manage annual and ad-hoc financial planning and budgeting for global departments and operating entities.
- Support the Finance team with management reporting, including preparation of internal KPI dashboards and presentation materials.
- Financing
- Lead / support corporate and project financing deals, including ownership of underlying financial models, investor pitches, transaction structuring, negotiation, and documentation.
- Organize and manage deal flow and pipeline in a way that helps the team stay focused on highest priority opportunities.
- Support the company in the expansion of revenue sources into non-carbon revenues
- Sales and marketing
- Support the sales and marketing team with identifying and pursuing strategic off-take partners as well as with negotiation and execution of ER sale contracts.
- Relationship management
- Own and manage select relationships with financing partners, including acting as the main contact person, managing the preparation and delivery of periodic project reports and updates, and coordinating other project deliverables.
- Finance team development
- Play a key role in developing the Finance team through hiring, training, and mentoring team members.
