Our client is a leading Commercial Bank, providing quality banking services in the region. On behalf of our client, we are searching for talent to fill the following position:
Job Title: Deputy Chief Executive Officer - Business
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Job Purpose:
To support the CEO in the development and implementation of the corporate strategy, goals, policies and short/ long term objectives of the Bank.

Key Performance Areas:
• Develop and implement strategic plans that meet business goals and objectives created in partnership with the Board of Directors
• Develop business opportunities and monitor business activities in line with the Bank’s long-term strategic and annual business plans, and ensure that the Bank promptly reacts to changing market conditions and customer needs, and remains competitive.
• Manage and grow the Bank’s Corporate Banking, Retail Banking, Treasury, Product and Channel services.
• Ensure effective management of the marketing and communication department.
• Oversee and ensure effective management of Business performance in terms of customers, target markets, product offerings, revenue generation and cost management;
• Manage the formulation and implementation of key client service programs to stimulate the Bank ‘s ability to increase the generation and flow of business from existing and new customers in line with the target market segments for the Bank;
• Recruit, coach and develop a team of senior leaders to manage critical business functions
• Responsible for overall risk management for business functions, incorporating linked credit, operations and portfolio risk in full compliance with the Bank’s Credit Policy, Bank of Uganda guidelines and appropriate provisions of relevant legislation;
• Ensure commitment to and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations across the organization through developing and implementing structures and systems (policies, processes. procedures and tools etc.) that facilitate risk mitigation, compliance with requirements, and optimal operational control environment.
• Develop and implement a high performance based and vibrant culture, that facilitates employee learning, growth, engagement and retention.
• Ensure maintenance of a business intelligence management system that will enable continuous tracking of Business performance, customer and product profitability, and customer satisfaction.
• Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders, including shareholders and government agencies
• Work with the team to identify critical issues/opportunities in the financial services industry and generate strategic recommendations to optimize short and long term growth.
• Proactively address challenges in the internal and external environment to protect business interests.
• Provide regular support and reports to the board and enterprise on an as needed basis and deliver adhoc projects as directed.
Personal Specifications:
• A Postgraduate in Business Administration, Finance, Strategy or a related field.
• A professional qualification will be an added advantage;
• At least 10
• 15 years working experience in banking with 8 years at senior management level.
• Have in-depth knowledge of one or more functional areas within a bank; and sound experience in business development within the banking sector.
• Agility to lead the new wave of automation, digital transformation, changing regulatory framework, economic conditions and globalization.
