Overview:
Tufts Global Inc. a subsidiary of Tufts University in Uganda seeks a field coordinator in Karamoja for the Karamoja Resilience Support Unit (KRSU) project funded by USAID. The project works closely with the Karamoja Development Partners Group (KDPG) to provide reviews, studies and analysis of development and humanitarian programs in Karamoja, and related policy issues. Our focus is translating evidence into practice and fostering collaborative learning to strengthen policy environments and program impacts. KRSU activities investigate emerging trends, best practices and promising strategies.
Position Vacancy: Driver
Location: Karamoja or Kampala .

Responsibilities:
• Drive project vehicles for official travel and business, as required by the team while maintaining a high standard of service to both internal and external guests.
• Ensure punctuality and safe transport & observe road and traffic laws and regulations of the Republic of Uganda
• Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreed standards.
• Ensure vehicles are kept secure, clean, and tidy and in good working condition at all times & ensure vehicles are given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: oil, water. battery, brakes, tires.
• Ensure vehicle repairs & maintenance are carried out on time, done properly as per official manufacturers specifications & work is done from officially designated workshops.
• Maintain Vehicle Logbook for official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, etc.
• Prepare and submit at the end of each month a vehicle monitoring report & records including vehicle operations, maintenance, expenses, mileage. • Assist project administration to ensure vehicle insurance and registration is updated timely according to schedule.
• Deliver goods and correspondences, carrying parcels, packages, and delivery and collection of official documents as required, & assist in arranging meetings, training and workshop activities.

Minimum requirements of the fob (including minimum education, experience, knowledge and skills)
• A clean driving license with classes B. DL & DM.
• Certificate in defensive driving
• Certificate of good conduct.
• Good communication skills in English
• Knowledge of Karamoja sub-region and Ngakarimojong language is desired
• Good knowledge and Understanding of Uganda traffic laws.
• Good traffic judgment & good knowledge about vehicle mechanics.
