Organizational Context
The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is a ministry of the Society of Jesus, incorporated as an international nongovernmental organization with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate for the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced people. The organization was founded in November 1980 and now has a presence in 57 countries. JRS undertakes services at national and regional levels with the support and guidance of an international office (IO) in Rome. The style of JRS service is human and spiritual, working in situations of greatest need, seeking the long-term well-being of refugees and displaced people while not neglecting their immediate or urgent needs. The main services provided are in the fields of Education and Livelihoods, Reconciliation, MHPSS and Advocacy.
General Overview
The Onsite Facilitator will accompany onsite learners for 24 weeks (6 months) throughout an online course, which includes overseeing a practicum/internship, and ensuring a robust learning experience for all learners.
The Onsite Facilitator should possess expertise gained through academic study and experience in the subject of course and she/he should be able to help others acquire high competence in the same domain. Key components of this position include student recruitment, course delivery, student retention and assessment/research on student success. This position requires twenty weekly work hours to support the responsibilities of the position and may require some evenings or Saturdays.
Information about E-Commerce Course
The course will have 3 courses with 8 modules each. The three courses are Accounting, E-Commerce, and Entrepreneurship. It is essential that the facilitator have familiarity with these subjects and be able to aid students in these subjects.
Essential Responsibilities
Facilitate all onsite course requirements. This includes approximately six to eight hours per week both for course recruitment and thereafter (during the running of the 24-week course) another six to eight hours per week, two days per week per course. Thus, we are expecting the onsite facilitator to work a total of 20 hours per week. During the course, the Onsite Facilitator will lead discussions and activities identified in the curriculum, and she/he will oversee the practicum experiences for each student.
Specifically, The Onsite Facilitator should:
• Coordinate, support and facilitate student recruitment for course enrolment.
• Ensure student access to the online course contents.
• Attends all LMS orientation sessions and thereafter conducts the local student LMS orientation sessions.
• Encourage academic excellence during small group discussions and activities as well as manage practicum experiences, ensuring that online faculty are inform accordingly.
• Help identify and secure valuable practicum/internship opportunities for each student (15-20 students per location).
• Commit to following the course itinerary and assign weekly participation points.
• Oversee the practicum experience for each student. Monitor completion of practicum hours and provide individualized support to the students.
• Act and respond to email inquiries on a timely basis (within 48 hours)
• Review and respond to weekly student activity report sent by JWL’s global registrar team and completing action points with 48 hours.
• Participate in a monthly virtual meeting with online faculty.
• Promptly notify lead faculty and online facilitator any concerns with a student, or with a practicum site.
• Maintain student records of course participation, completion of on-site assignments, and completion of practicum hours.
• Ensure that students fill in the Course Evaluation Survey at the end of the programme.
• Contribute to data collection and other research-related activities.
• Access needed technology to engage with the global nature of the course.
• Meet course timelines on a weekly basis.
Education and Previous Work Experience:
JWL professional courses are all blended-learning courses requiring the synchronous support of an onsite facilitator and an asynchronous support of an online facilitator. Your role as an Onsite Facilitator requires the following:
• Experience in Accounting, Entrepreneurship, and E-Commerce.
• University Degree or Certificate in Accounting.
• At least 5 years’ experience with leadership and/or facilitation.
• Knowledge and connections to local community.
• Able to participate in research and data collection relative to the Certification.
• Experience adapting teaching style to meet students need.
Language:
• Fluent in English (Level B2) as the curriculum is offered in English.
Technology:
• Competent in the use of the internet to access learning materials.
• Proficiency with MS Office and relevant Google Drive.
• Ability to learn new software programs as needed.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel.

• Proactive mindset and strong problem-solving skills (think ahead)

• Multiple time zones require flexibility in work hours for virtual meetings.
