Mildmay Uganda is a Christian NGO that offers General and HIV/ AIDS medical services also providing technical support for Ministry of Health Systems to scale up comprehensive HIV/AIDS Services. Mildmay Uganda is also an accredited Institution of Higher Learning offering academic and short courses in health care.

Mildmay Uganda is running projects within central Uganda through which it is implementing evidence based health systems strengthening interventions aimed at accelerating HIV epidemic control. Mildmay Uganda is, therefore, looking for competent, innovative, and highly motivated individuals to join our team for the following position:

Economic Strengthening Coordinator
Reports to: Deputy Director Programs

Job Summary: Will lead the design, integration, monitoring and documentation of socio-economic services in key program domains to ensure comprehensive HIV Service delivery.

Job Requirements: The successful applicant will uphold the Christian ethos of Mildmay Uganda. S/he must have;

  • Masters degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Development Studies or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating development projects preferably in: HIV/AIDS, Micro-enterprise Development, Agriculture, Rural Finance
  • Experience using participatory and citizen led development approaches like VSLA, Farmer Field Schools, M4P is required
  • Experience in integrating Livelihoods into other programs, particularly HIV will be a plus
  • Knowledge and ability to use “circular program” techniques ie use policy to inform programming and in-turn use program practice to inform program improvement and inform policy design will be an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience with Participatory Community Approaches

Person Specifications:

  • Technical proficiency in design, implementation, and M&E for similar projects/programs
  • Dynamic systems thinking, high taste for innovation, and continuous quality improvement
  •  Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills.

Other qualities for all positions are: Good communication (oral and written) skills, teaching/presentation skills; Analytical/Decision making skills; Problem solving skills; proficiency in various MS office packages. Committed to quality and excellence, and holding the highest levels of integrity and confidentiality. Must be flexible, reliable, and in sympathy with the Christian values of Mildmay Uganda. Evidence of a non-judgmental approach regarding race,
religion, culture, sexuality and lifestyle is critical.
