What we are looking for The purpose of the Education Coordinator position is to plan, coordinate, implement and report on Education projects activities in NRC West-Nile Program Area. The following is a brief description of the role. What you will do

Generic responsibilities
1. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, guidance, procedures and donor requirements when implementing the projects.
2. Contribute to the development of West Nile Area, and Education strategies, initiate, and participate in the development of relevant Education projects.
3. Implement technical direction and ensure high technical quality of projects.
4. Provide regular progress reports to the Area Programme Manager and the CC Specialist
5. Ensure that Education projects targets are met and beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
6. Develop and manage project budget (in cooperation with APM) and coordinate across CCs.
7. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
8. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders.
9. Promote the rights of displacement affected populace in line with the advocacy strategy.

Specific responsibilities
1. Plan, coordinate, implement and report on Education project implementation (Workplan, budget, and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies, and results framework.
2. Responsible for Education projects budgetary controls including expenditure controls, spending plans, monthly cash transfer plans, budget monitoring and revisions in line with NRC financial management systems.
3. Ensure the development and submission of timely Expenditure plans and Procurement requests and support timely distribution of materials and equipment according to procedures.
4. In collaboration with the MEL team, develop and implement the MEL systems, plans, tools and facilitate effective monitoring and evaluation of all projects and reporting of program participants reached, output and outcomes.
5. Ensure that the project targets are entered and updated into NRC GORS, and Indicator Performance Tracking Table
6. Ensure timely reconciliation of deliverables of project goods supplied to participants.
7. In collaboration with the Area program Manager, Specialist and Head of Program, contribute to the design and develop new proposals and concept notes and contextualization of activities and materials.
8. Ensure the timely projects reviews and adjustments of the project’s targets, implementation plans and budgets as may be required from time to time.
9. Support the development of timely quality donor reports and submission of monthly progress reports on activities, spending, procurement, and staffing to the Area Program Manager.
10. Provide technical guidance to Education staff at Area level and support project’s implementation support. Analyse the needs of the education team in terms of capacity strengthening, build and implement a capacity strengthening plan to ensure quality implementation.
11. Undertake regular site visits to ensure that projects are implemented in a timely manner and adapted to local needs.
12. Represent NRC in sectorial coordination, emergency meetings, clusters and/or working group at area level.
13. Line Management of the Team Leader/officers.
14. Apply protection and prevention mechanisms in all project activities and interactions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and programme participants.
15. Ensure that the NRC resources are used in accordance with the humanitarian principles in the area.

Generic professional qualification and competencies:
• Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in education, Community Psychology, International Relations and Migration, or relevant humanities
• A post graduate diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation or Project Planning and Management
• Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
• Technical CC Education expertise.
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
• Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
• Experience in shaping and scaling up education in emergencies response including assessments, developing response strategies.
• Experience with applying ICT tools in assessments, for analysis, documentation, and reporting.
• Experience with developing proposals, budgets, work plans, and monitoring and evaluation.
• Experience with capacity building and team building of staff and community mobilization.
• Experience with partnership-based approaches, coordination, and holistic programme designs
• Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian standards such as INEE and Sphere
• Knowledge of the context in West Nile and/or neighboring countries is an asset.
