JOB DETAILS:
The Uganda Network of AIDS Service Organizations (UNASO) is a National organization that was established in 1996 to lead coordination‘ networking, resource mobilization and information sharing among civil society AIDS service organizations (ASOs). UNASO works to ensure effectiveness, efficiency in providing quality contribution to the national response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic. UNASO has a membership of over 500 organizations countrywide which include PHA groups, national and district level organizations, Faith Based organizations (FBOs), Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Cultural institutions and international NGOs. UNASO is actively seeking an enthusiastic. qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Executive Director.

Job Description:
The Executive Director will provide strategic leadership and management to UNASO and is responsible for ensuring that UNASO has a clear and compelling strategic and operational plans that are supported by an effective system of strategic measurement. risk management and governance framework The role bears the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the organization is organized, managed and controlled in a way that maximizes delivery of UNASO‘s mandate. This position requires a mix of financial stewardship, fundraising, strategic thinking, and staff management and development. As Executive Director, you will lead the organizations fundraising efforts, building and maintaining a strong, diverse funding base and maintain strong relationship with UNASO donors You will serve as the “public face” of the organization and represent our work to a variety of audiences. You will also manage a team at the UNASO secretariat and those at the 5 regional network offices. You will be required to maintain strong partnerships with Ministry of Health. Uganda AIDS Commission, and development partners HIV and AIDS response. The Executive Director is responsible for coordinating Operations of the Board of Directors and Annual General Meeting and act as the Secretary to the Board, S/he will also build a culture that nurtures collaboration, innovation, and organizational integrity. The Executive Director reports directly to the Chairman of the Board and is responsible for implementing UNASO’s overall strategic plan, priorities and budget as approved by the Board of Directors. Under the guidance an: direction of the Board of Directors and in close collaboration to the Senior Leadership Team you will identify and purse opportunities for growth that advance our Mission

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership

  • Lead fundraising efforts across the organization including cultivating and maintaining relationships with foundation partners and major donors. identifying new opportunities for grant finding and building a sustainable funding runaway to support current and future growth
  • Ensure strong financial stewardship of ire organization in collaboration with The finance committee of the Board of Directors and the finance Manager. By overseeing UNASO’s annual budget finding areas to improve financial and spending practices
  • Approve monthly expenditures and ensure that UNASO is using both our Financial and human resource capital to best advance our mission

Strategic Leadership

  • Work m collaboration with the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team
    to develop the organizations strategic goals and priorities, and accompany implementation plans.
  • Proactively identify and pursue new, on-mission opportunities for growth Leadership and partnership within the field.
  • Oversee and continually monitor the quality of all internal operations, initiatives, and accountability mechanisms to ensure high quality, consistent results, and ongoing improvement.
  • Lead the development and execution of advocacy and communication strategies that amplify our voice and contribute to national‘ regional, and international dialogues and policy fora.
  • Strengthen revitalize UNASO regional Networks and ensure their operations. funding and advocacy impact in the regions

People Leadership

  • Oversee a team of approximately 10 staff members across at the national secretariat and 5 at regional offices.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to oversee staffing plans and development that ensure that UNASO's strategic priorities are being met and we are well positioned for growth
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to strengthen organizational leadership cultivate high-performing staff, and ensure professional development tor staff at all levels of the organization
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to maintain and deepen a culture consistent with the organizations values and mission
  • Formulate planning recommendations to the Board of Directors and ensure that the Board has sufficient and timely information to fulfill its duties and Steward the organization.
  • Assist in the recruitment selection, and evaluation of members of the Board Of Directors.

Qualifications

  • Passion for HIV response agenda, with vision values and commitment to serving the organization
  • 5+ years of professional experience in public health work and in a leadership role in donor funded project or non-profit organization with significant growth
  • Demonstrated experience success in fundraising, networking and relationship management
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting and financial management and a strong understanding of nonprofit revenue structures
  • Demonstrated experience managing a moderately sized staff including remote management of staff and a history of developing talent
  • Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail, necessary for managing a complex schedule and tracking execution of simultaneous projects
  • Demonstrated ability to respond proactively to unstructured environments and to navigate challenging situations and relationships with creativity and diplomacy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to connect to engage and inspire diverse constituencies including government agencies, multilateral organizations, technical and policy experts
  • Significant experience operating in multi donor funded projects in Uganda
  • Knowledge of Global HIV programming and Ugandans HIV Response Master’s degree in humanities and medical science
