About YARID
Young African Refugees for Integral Development (YARID) is a registered NGO based in Kampala, founded in 2007 by young Congolese refugees living in Uganda.

The mission of YARID is to empower refugees, orphans and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) around Africa to overcome the burdens of deprivation and vulnerability to become healthy, educated, self-sustaining and contributing members of society.

YARID unites urban refugees through avenues like sports, English classes, and vocational skills training in order to address social issues like ethnic conflicts, unemployment, public health, and lack of access to education. Refugees that YARID serves mainly come from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda Burundi, South Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia.

Job Overview/Summary
As a security guard, you will be to protect the organization property, employees and visitors.

YARID is seeking for a female security guard to join our team in ensuring security of our participants, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities
• Patrolling and monitoring activities on the company’s premises regularly to discourage criminals and ensure the environment is safe and secure.
• Evicting trespassers and violators and detaining perpetrators while following legal protocols before relevant authorities arrive to take over.
• Controlling the entrance and departure of employees, visitors and vehicles according to protocols.
• Monitoring surveillance cameras to watch out for any disruptions or unlawful activities.
• Providing detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred to management.
• Testing security systems and, if needed, operating X-ray machines and metal detectors.
• Using provided communication devices such as two-way radios in a clear and concise manner.
• Able to perform CPR or first aid if needed.

Qualifications
▪ A level Certificate.
▪ A minimum of 2 years of working experience as a security guard.
▪ Fluency in English, Luganda. Knowledge of languages spoken by refugees such as French, Swahili, etc. will be considered an added advantage.
▪ Experience working with security systems, proficient in Microsoft Office and know how to write reports.
▪ Able to keep calm in hostile situations.
▪ Excellent communication skills and ability to convey information effectively both in verbal and written formats.
▪ Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
▪ Knowledge of urban/community development.
▪ Service oriented with good interpersonal and facilitation skills.
▪ Experience in skilling sectors and with refugees is considered an added advantage.
▪ Candidates with displacement experience are encouraged to apply.
