JOB DETAILS:
The Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB) is a Not-for-profit Non-Government Organization (NGO) with a network of 317 faith based Private Not For Profit (PNFP) facilities including 20 Hospitals, 11 Health Centre IV, 159 Health Centre III, 127 Health Centre II and 16 Health Training Institutions spread across Uganda. UPMB has evolved from being a Charitable Organization in 1957 to a Technical National Umbrella Organization.
UPMB coordinates its Member Health Facilities (MHFs) directly and through its decentralized structures including the Dioceses under Church of Uganda (COU), the Fields under Seventh Day Adventist Church Uganda Union (SDAUU) and Pentecostal Health Coordinators that are co-located with the District Health Management Teams.
With a vision of becoming the preferred Christian Health care partner for sustainable services in Uganda, UPMB supports national government policies, and strategies and influences regional best practices through its programs and its innovations. Through its thought leadership, UPMB supports and coordinates MHFs to provide inclusive, non-discriminatory quality healthcare to communities; and serves as a liaison between the MHFs and the government through the Ministry of Health and Partners/donors. UPMB implements its tested Accreditation system, which is applied to standardize and monitor quality of care across MHFs. Other systems include a robust medical supplies (the Joint Medical Store co-owned with the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau) and education systems (primary to tertiary) that are linked to their health facilities. UPMB uses a health system strengthening approach to improve leadership and governance, supply chain and laboratory management, health financing and grants management, human resources and human resource for health.
UPMB works towards sustainability as is enshrined within the Ministry of Health (MOH) Governance and Technical Structures. UPMB is a Member of MOH Health Policy Advisory Committee (HPAC) and Technical Working Groups (TWGs) and its MHFs report through the National Health System (DHIS2). UPMB has faith leaders with access to reach the families and individuals, the marginalized and vulnerable populations. These leaders are skilled and influential communicators with ability to promote healthy behaviors, thinking, and foster dialogue among communities.
